Gesicht - open (because I have to) roboterpolizist August 4 2010, 14:15:02 UTC
It was, of course, not that he hadn't seen robots fight before. He'd watched the wrestling matches. He'd seen one of Brando's last matches in person. They were impressive, feats of of tactical maneuvering, leverage, knowledge, planning, reaction time. Perhaps some "luck," if you believed Brando. Gesicht had never seen Heracles fight in person, but he'd followed some of those matches too.

This wasn't like those.

Matches were often brutal, it was true. It was common for one fighter to loose a limb or two. But while the match may render the pankration suit the fighter used useless, and may do so in a way that humans could judge painful, it did not, it could not, result in death. The combatants AI remained intact, ready to be restored to their daily-use body. Those matches were a contest of skill, nothing more.

This reminded Gesicht more of war. There was a need to eliminate the opponent completely, by any means necessary.

How sentient were these robots? They seemed well programmed in regards to combat. Did they have any other functions? He had seen one of the Tunnelmen using some sort of device, but it was impossible from this distance to determine the nature of it. Were these not robots in the sense he knew the word at all, but giant remote-controlled dolls?

Whatever the case, while the crowd cheered around him, Gesicht remained still, watching the spectacle with the air of someone attending a trial.
