[A ghost ship. Alphonse supposes he's seen stranger things in his short life.

He'd settled in, prepared for the long ride. A game of dice? Sure, why not? He brought some books to read, but this looks like a fun way to pass some time. His brother would probably kill him for gambling, but it would only be a few ivory...

Not long later, Alphonse is the proud winner of... A ghost maid? Is this the actual spirit of a once living-human being? A soul? Is it sentient? What makes it different than anyone else on this ship?]

"Except for the armor, what makes it different from ME?" he muttered quietly to himself.

[The ghost is a maid? Was it willing? Was this slavery? Would Alphonse need to pay it?

This "prize" brought a lot of questions, but he had time to think it over. It was a strange thing to win, and carried a lot of responsibility, like prize goldfish from a carnival. Now he had a ghost to take care of, and he though that it would be a lot more difficult than taking care of cats or rabbits. Maybe he could put it to work in the muffin shop...

His brother would have been right: Alphonse shouldn't have been gambling.

Enough of that! He'd nearly forgotten why he was on the ship in the first place. Someone was in danger, and he needed to help.]

Well, she's female, for one.

[The sex of the thing was way down on the list of concerns re: you won a ghost maid.]

I... She's a ghost. It.. doesn't make sense.

H-hi, Io. What are you doing here?

[He doesn't mean it rudely. It just seems a little odd to him.]

Maybe I just wanted to say hello. [Not why she's on the boat.] Maybe I'm just making sure you're not getting yourself into more trouble than you can handle~

[She isn't.]

...or maybe I'd just like to live a little.

[That's more like it.]

[He gives her a long look, then turns his gaze in the direction they're travelling.]

So would the people on that island.

Well, it's a good thing we're headed there, isn't it?

[And Edward comes aboard, quickly spotting the familiar armor of Alphonse and walking over. What was Al doing? Oh, he's playing some sort of game? Why not sit and watch, maybe he could join in later. He always beats Al in cards (usually by cheating, while on their long train rides).

But. Wait. What was that thing and why were they sitting playing games when that broadcast--those people needed their help? Ed shakes his head after watching a while.]

Dammit....Al, we need to.... [To help them. If they can, he doesn't want another Nina, another person they could have saved but didn't. Ed can't let that happen, not again.]

[Al starts.]

Ed! I.. was just, I mean, it's a long ride and... My books were... I won a ghost maid!

[His shoulders sink and he gives up trying to explain.]

I know we have a lot to do when we get there. I'm worried about those people. I hope I... we can help.

I know. We won't know until we try though, right? [Plus, they have a better chance together. And Ed isn't usually one to go off without Al if he can avoid it. He stands and pulls at Al's arm to explore more of the ship and find out what was going on.]

Right!

[He nods and follows.]

[Ed wrinkles his nose at the smell, continuing on to the next room. They seem more like sailors than actual pirates, but they don't seem hostile and about to attack, and he gets the feeling they probably won't, or wouldn't, unless provoked. They seem to be quite relaxed, Ed muses, in playing games with the Scorched travelling with them.]

This is weird.....I mean, what...are they anyway? This stupid place makes everything we know turn on it's head, dammit..

[...Well.]

[This is certainly someone Greed didn't expect to see on this ship. What with him having oh-so-nobly sacrificed himself back to the Gate in exchange for his brother's right arm and all.

...But time was weird here, wasn't it? So maybe that just hasn't happened ye--

And that's when Greed notices another thing. He's pretty sure the tin can wasn't copper the last time he saw him, either. He raps on the armor with the back of one hand and gives the boy something of a flat look.]

What, steel grow old on you or something?
