Deneve, her hood pulled up over her head and the swords on her back mostly hidden by her cloak, moved along one of the side streets near the Outlander building. It was part of her ground-level route out into the hunting grounds. She doesn't usually meet anyone in this part of town at this time of day, though this place is strange, really. Who could really predict what might happen.

Still, as she approaches him, her eyes, sharp and intelligent, catch a little light despite the hood, and they flash silver.

Strange people inhabiting the place. In fact, it looked like everything had come from some weird mix of a time period, actually. Wherever this Anatole was, it was some shithole of a city that thought it was stuck in another time. But where exactly was this city? Kira had been moving in between layers in Hell before he'd gotten here, but the air here certainly didn't feel anything like the sulfuric, sweltering atmosphere of Shioul, nor the polluted wasteland that was Gehenna. There was substance in the air around here, that was for sure, but it was different ( ... )

The stranger stopped. She couldn't sense any yoki or power of any kind coming from him, but that didn't mean anything here. There were types of power she couldn't read. Normally, she might have just walked by him, ignored him or tried to get him to ignore her, but given the unpredicable nature of power in this place, she stopped as well, rather than turning her back on someone who had their attention on her.

"Problem?" Her voice was soft, non-confrontational, non-threatening. There was nothing in it to suggest that she was ready for a fight should the stranger decide to attack her.

... something from the past. Another memory, another life-- yeah, that wasn't now. As recent the revelation (hah, that word choice was a hell of a lot more ironic than Kira would have liked) of his identity was, there were other things to deal with.

The woman had noticed him. Kira didn't reply, but continued to just stand there for a moment. Then, he turned to her, the edge of a lip curling slightly into a smirk, and shrugged.

"Not really," he said. "Nice swords." He moved to walk past her. While he could ask her for directions, he couldn't be sure if the answers she might give would actually help him. Then again, maybe he just didn't feel like asking.

She didn't move or react to him, even when he smirked and turned to her. He was an odd one and it was obvious he was thinking something he was apparently unwilling to share. But she also doubted that he was likely to attack her at this point either, though the mention of her swords did raise her hackles slightly.

"I see."

Having come to the conclusion that it was unlikely that he was going to pick a fight with her, she lost interest in him somewhat. But, cautious for once, she decided not to turn away until he did.

[Sorry for the lateness! I hope this is okay... I couldn't think of how else to make this work ICly, and since I couldn't think of any other way to be able to tag Simon down there, I decided to lead from this thread into the other. If this doesn't work, let me know!]

Odd, perhaps. The lady was quite odd herself. Strange eyes. But this didn't warrant a conversation or an explanation. Not that Kira was in the habit of giving either of these even with people he knew well. But Deneve was right -- Kira would not have attacked at all. What was the point?

He spent only the necessary amount of seconds it took to give her that smirk, that barest of acknowledgments, before turning his back and continuing on his way. He had no such qualms about being attacked in turn, though. He'd lost any of those kinds of fears centuries ago... not that he could remember all too clearly. Too many things had happened and too many things were missing from the cracks in his memories.

Gray eyes, gray eyes...His katana clutched in his hand, Kira continued on, ( ... )
