Over the course of their time together in Anatole, Elena had asked Zack a great many things.

Do you have to be so tall? was not one of them ( ... )

Tseng had decided to sit. His head still ached and he was a little bit dizzy, though he didn't want to admit to either of those things. He propped his briefcase up to keep him from sitting on the ground and used it was a makeshift chair. But his hand was on his weapon. He was listening intently to the sounds around him. He'd been given a warning. There was danger here; he wouldn't be caught off guard.

There was still so much to think about and absorb. Fodder for the next several weeks at the very least. He had the chance to learn his future...did he want to? From what he'd heard, it seemed decent enough. But what if he hated something? Would he want to change it?

Tseng's gaze flickered to something in the shadows. It was huge and metal and reminded him of a spider. It also reminded him of something that had crawled out of the labs. He whipped his gun out, but it seemed to realize that and skittered away just as he fired at it.

He stalked forward. He was going to pistol whip it to death if it came close to him.

...Does she really need to tell him not to ruffle her hair in front of the boss? Does she need to state something so obvious. Elena combs her fingers through her hair, but her scowl fades a little with his words.

Funny how sometimes you really miss someone and don’t even know it.

"I always knew it."

She would never have stopped missing him. Reno or Rude either. Home wasn't a place, not for her. Her upbringing had been fine in a material sense, but she'd never known home until she became a Turk.

The gunshot pulled her out of her thoughts and placed Elena squarely in the here and now. She raced towards the sound of it, finger on the trigger and mind darting from one danger to the next...but always coming back to him.

"Sir!"

Elena spotted Tseng first and then the movement of something else. She really didn't take the time to see what it was, didn't care for that matter, she just wanted it away from himMuch later, it would register on Elena that she'd shot at the very thing that she's been chasing for weeks ( ... )

No, she didn’t need to tell him, just…remind him. Or go with the flow. He was used to Cloud’s sullen looks after he ruffled blonde spikes; her glare was like daggers, and he flinched, coughing and glancing away. Okay, that meant overtime without pay. Time to keep his hands to himself.

At least, until he heard the gunshot. His hand was drawing his sword immediately, racing towards the sound, towards the weilder of the gun and the instigator. Though he missed the mechan ical foe by seconds, he stood tall, tense, ready. Never know when it might come back.

Granted, that lasted all of thirty seconds before he realized he really was standing next to Tseng, destroyer of empty cities, coverer of secrets, Director of Turks. The sword dropped a little, and no, nope, nada, this wasn’t a dream, wasn’t, it was real, and he was here. Zack was smiling before he even realized it was on his face ( ... )

At the arrival of more people, the little mechanical body skittered away. Tseng stared after it for a moment, not willing to take his gaze off of it until he was certain it was gone. Re-evaluating the situation, he decided it wasn't a huge threat. It hadn't been attacking him...only being a nuisance to someone who valued privacy ( ... )
