More children?

[He's not really mocking though. Just considering, in his own Jon Snow way.]

Where will you get the meat to feed them with?

Any who choose to take shelter with me are welcome.

[She smiles a little, in concession to his lack of mocking.]

For the moment, I've bought a supply from the market with the same loan I've taken to afford this place to begin with. [SHEEPISH LOOK.] Perhaps I can find a less costly source in time.

If the winter is harsher than some are prepared for, they'll need it.

There's no need to buy meat, when plenty of it is running around for free.

That may be true, but I fear I am no hunter.

[Guess who is a hunter. Jon's jaw clenches and relaxes before he speaks.]

I can bring the meat to you, but I'm not a cook.

[She eyes Jon.]

You would do that?

We need more furs for winter. The meat cannot be let go to waste.

[...you Stark blooded people. You keep surprising her.]

...thank you.

I wouldn't call myself a cook either. Fortunately, there is no shortage of cooks in this city.

See to it that it's put to good use. There may come a time when even bones can mean the difference between life and death.

[She gives a very tiny nod.]

Yes... I've been long aware of the difficulties of starvation.

Have you known winter? [It just struck him that maybe she hasn't.]

Yes... but winters are not so harsh across the sea as they are in the North, I think.

Still, it is difficult to survive when one has nothing.

There can be no denying that.

Is that something you have familiarity with?

I hadn't yet experienced a winter with the Night's Watch. But I do remember a winter. The cold and the fear, the threat of hunger. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Nor would I. It seems that this, at least, we have in common.

[And considerably more than that, or so it seems these days.]

....why did you join the Night's Watch? It seems a strange decision. As the son of Lord Stark, even if you did not share his name, your life must have been more comfortable than most.
