Some of us choose not to abandon our humanity in favor of the surge of power attained. Is it genuinely worth the risks? To give in when the result is something you can never turn back from?
In my experience, a human's motivation to resist sin is driven by a number of factors, not just one. It could be all of the above that you mentioned, in addition to a fear of letting someone else down, or even just a personal challenge.
