She's the result of fusing a human with an Awakened Being... which is the result of a combination of human and yoma that, when releasing their yoki, overdo it and are incapable of returning to their normal state, thus losing their humanity.

It wasn't willing on the part of any of us that I know of. There is always an exception, but I can't think of any who would wish this life for themselves
