It isn't a waste, but it's not always enough to bring happiness. [Perhaps it's different with people.]

[His response is not immediate. He's been here long enough to know what these things are, posts one is not aware of, invasions of privacy. It's why he doesn't bother to question it.]

It is always a waste. [Quiet, not forceful, but not lacking that certain quality of pride that comes with Byakuya. It's a waste. He can wish until the end of time for her to come back to him, but the reality is, she won't. It'll only cause unnecessary pain.]

Even when they are granted? Although the sting of the ones left unfulfilled do dampen the pleasantry a little.

It would not be a wish if it could be granted so easily. [Even though he knows that isn't necessarily true, he also knows that the things a person wishes for... are the things they can't ever have.]

I wouldn't necessarily call dying easy. [Even though when she thinks about it, it was easier than most things.]

... I wouldn't know. [He doesn't exactly ask those he sends off to Soul Society...]

I didn't know either, for a long time. I thought so many things were foolish. Sentimental. Weak. Not worth noticing. I was mistaken, but I was granted another chance.

It is difficult, sometimes, but I'm trying not to squander it.

You suppose your views will change with new life?

[Won't go on about that squandering part. He's failed that much.]

Some changes had already been set in motion prior to it, but ...more has changed after than I ever thought possible.

And I am fairly unused to being mistaken.
