Food is harder to protect without making it inedible. Since they are rather in the same position all of us have been in, if more... militarized, perhaps the laws of hospitality can still be remembered. They are, after a fashion, wassailing. I suspect offering food voluntarily might provoke an overwhelming response to any individual; perhaps a common donation could be arranged until a permanent solution presents itself…?
