[he nods at once, no transition between concern and business. Takes his forge from his pocket to call up six images and show them to her. They're of extraordinarily mundane-looking objects, two of which are in the clinic. He glances at the child and speaks quietly to Shirley so no one else can hear,]

These are portkeys. Objects that have been turned into teleportation devices. Since I've made apparation-unaided teleportation, blocked by the spells on the building, I, at least, am unable to teleport in or out without leaving the area of the building. I don't know if that will affect your powers or not. Either way, these three objects link the clinic, the dojo, and Patrol Headquarters, should anyone need to get immediately from one to the other. Just pick it up and you'll be in the next location. This- [one object, in a room at the clinic] goes to the dojo. That [another object in a different room] to HQ.

So far I've told only you and Arthur. Tonks knows because she helped set them up. You can tell whomever you see fit.

[doesn't take time explaining why he hasn't made this public knowledge. Many of the reasons are self-evident]

[really, with that death grip on shirley, it's not like the girl is much to worry about. besides, possibly cutting off circulation in the leg. but shirley does place a hand at the nape of the girl's neck while she listens. and then, she is quiet for several moments, thoughtful.]

[deciding that: her own power is probably affected. this doesn't matter because she can't leave elior unattended. and the people she may tell, some of whom are dende and miranda - but it wouldn't really be telling so much as forcibly getting them out of danger. it's only vaguely she thinks of winglies, though.]

[she would like to use his magic to heal several people, but what good would that do if the hellcats attack and a dragon isn't there to obliterate them? fighters hands get tied, and more people get hurt. this entire thing blows, man.]
