Plays and cats and falling off of things

The kiddos both went out for the school play, Knights of the Rad Table - and both got in. Minor parts for both - Kid-1 is a Page, Kid-2 is in the ensemble - which is for the best, really. There was some minor drama in the house about the auditions - lots of jealousy and snipping and fussing between the two, as Kid-1 went out because her friends were doing it, Kid-2 felt that it would be best for her "professionally", since there are no kids' parts in local productions now or for the foreseeable future, and neither wanted the other one there. Anyway, having both in with minor parts lets them work but reinforces that they ain't all that, regardless of how absolutely amazing they both are otherwise.

And, oh yes, we now have another cat. My DW efbq has the story here. Right now, the cat is exploring like Dora ("Oo! Whassis? A comb! Cool! *sniffsniff* Wow! And what's that? A window! Hoo!") and has done things like gotten stuck in a paper bag. Unfortunately, once again, no one would take my suggestions for a name, so she (yep, she) ended up with Ginger. (As this is a female, and has a rather furry brain, "Ditz" is a new and acceptable substitute.)

Ended up with muzikmaker21 and friend last night for coffee and video game butt-kicking afterwards (he needed to administer a beatdown to something; this was acceptable). I think I have some residual hindbrain reflex to video game characters falling off of things left over from my days as a Q*Bert player; having our characters fall off the fighting platform in Soul Caliber was enough to have me laugh myself into cardiac arrest.
