Well, today Daniel and Lisa were in town and came to church, and so we got to show off Toby to everybody who came near. It was awesome. And then we all went over to Mom and Dad's for lunch (to celebrate my birthday), and while Toby was fussy for some of it, he was good during other parts and I got to hold him and rock him. He's got the most gorgeous eyes: a very dark mixture of brown and blue. I'm wondering if they'll end up straight brown like Daniel's, or blueish-hazel like Lisa's.
Lisa was telling us how Toby likes to sit by himself and look at things. I'm thinking that's going to be very nice when he's older: she'll be able to leave him alone and not worry about him whining and complaining. And for some odd reason, he likes to stare at ceiling fans, even when they're not on.
Mom was showing us pictures from when she and Dad went to visit my grandfather for his eightieth birthday, and was pointing out our cousins whom we rarely see. Oddest was Ariana, who's one day shy of being exactly ten years younger than me: Daniel didn't even recognize her. But I couldn't help but laugh when my mom said she thought my cousin Jack looked, alternately, like Elijah Wood or Harry Potter. He does, though! His hair's jet-black, darker than mine, and he's got that trademark thin face of my dad's family, but he's also got these enormous blue eyes. So when you look at him straight on and imagine glasses, he looks like Harry. But when you see him in profile, it's Elijah!
My poor cat: Olympia turns sixteen this year, and he's getting arthritic. Besides being blind. And losing weight. And his fur's getting coarse. I don't know what I'll do when we have to put him down. Mom and Dad put him outside on the end of a long leash tied to a stake, and he enjoys it, and he was very happy to hear my voice and have me pet him, but I can't imagine it's fun for him living the way he does. It just breaks my heart. I can remember when he was so much fun to have around... such a good, old kitty.
American Literature is cancelled for tomorrow morning. Meaning I have a chance to sleep in and really get going on all my major assignments due this week. Oof.
