Let's see now... I just finished Mary's birthday gift (which was last week, but oh well) - she wanted a Ring inscription shirt, like what I made back when the LotR movies came out. And Quarter End started. (AUGH!) Sang on New Year's, but didn't stay up 'till midnight. Watched more Spaced with Amy, and made it up to The One With The Gunfight (I don't know the episodes' proper names), and am still enjoying the show thoroughly. We love the wacky plots, the weird characters, the fun camera work, and, of course, the never-ending game of "Spot the Who Actor." When we spotted John Simm and Mark Gatiss, and I bounced up and down in excitement, Amy said, "I can't wait till they get Simon Pegg in Doctor Who," and I burst out laughing. "Amy, he was. He was The Editor in 'The Long Game'." "Oh, yeah..." Amy totally whips me for calling plot twists and guessing endings, but I rule the geek trivia.
I need to see that one again. Just 'cause now, I know who Simon Pegg is.
(I was much amused by an article on Stargate SG-1 in a recent magazine wherein they revealed that they cast well-known sci-fi TV actors in guest parts on purpose. Hence John de Lancie, Connor Trineer, Rene Auberjonois, Mitch Pileggi, etc etc. Those writers really know they're audience.)
Gotta do laundry tomorrow.
And they're announcing the Eleventh Doctor tomorrow. This is just weird, y'all, that I should be so affected by a TV show.
writer_in_black, I understand a little better why it took you so long to watch Peter Davison. I don't want to hate the new guy - in fact, I refuse to. But I haven't had to spend so much time psyching myself up since the LotR movies, wherein I relied on the mantra, "of course they had to make it different, just enjoy it for what it is" to keep me from wigging out over every cut and change. (Still haven't forgiven them for Faramir, though.) Ah, Tennant, why must you leave?
I really hope the new fellow is fabulous, though. Of course, with Steven Moffat, how could he not be?
Bought Beethoven's Ninth Symphony yesterday. Haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but I bet it's marvelous. Of course I know the famous tune to "Ode to Joy," but that's about it.
