Fireworks
Friend: It's starting! Look!
Me: Wow! This is the first time I've ever seen fireworks in real life, it's so pretty!
I had the opportunity to witness live fireworks for the first time tonight. It was amazing! Believe it or not I've heard people comment on the fact that they don't particularly enjoy watching fireworks - and I respect their opinion - but how can one not find; money being blown up into a dazzling burst of sparks lighting up the night sky, to be an utterly mesmerizing scene?!
Like with all things, there's something indescribably significant and memorable about seeing things live, television footage or recounts could never measure up.
As we stood among hundreds of strangers with our heads tilted towards the vibrant bursts of radiant colours, I felt a strange sense of belonging. Despite leading very different lives and being very different individuals, at that point in time, we shared a similar experience, our attention was focused upon a similar event and that, to me, felt like some sort of uniting power. It was great and it got only better when I casted my eyes around me to find the unfamiliar faces surrounding us to be ornamented with smiles.
Today was a good day.
