So, now that everything has settled, I can finally post an update. Chris and I finished our big move, and now are literally within walking distance to work. Not "walking distance" as in a really ambitious person might choose to walk a mile or two to work, but walking distance as in I can drag my chubby butt, and Chris can drag his smoke-filled black lungs, to work in ten minutes. Alas, it is slightly smaller than our old apartment, and suffers from the severe detriment of not having a storage unit. On the other hand, it is right next to a storage rental space, so once we figure out what we can reasonably arrange in our apartment, we'll move everything into a storage unit.
Other than that, we have finally purchased a new TV, because our old one suffered from a severe case of has-a-purple-spot-in-the-right-hand-corner-itis. It only cost $150, because we used the points from my credit card, which I had completely forgotten about. We went TV shopping today, and afterwards Chris took me to a used bookstore he had heard about from a coworker. First, it's the biggest used bookstore I've ever been to. Second, it has an antique/collectible book section. I bought a 1916 leather-bound collection of John Milton's poetry. I'll have to avoid this place, as I am utterly powerless in the face of old books. I don't even care if they're worth money; I just love the history. I mean, someone during the First World War touched that copy of Milton. Amazing. Our apartment is also very close to the largest grocery store I have ever been to in my life. It has such a wide selection of food and other things that I am totally overwhelmed by it. It makes me wish I was a foodie. It also offers cooking lessons, which I'm going to take, because it seems a waste for me to always go for Hamburger Helper when they have an entire aisle devoted to spices.
Um... I've been working oodles of overtime (I mean, OODLES). And that's it.
