Weirdly, I was just thinking about this. Since I haven't updated
my LJ recently, I might as well share my answer:
Christopher Eccleston.
Yes, I'm well aware that he played the part already, and that's what I mean: his tenure was all-too-brief, and I wish there were some way for him to play The Doc again. Doctor Who has always been big on gleeful ad-hoccery and continuity-reboots; there were three Atlantises in Doctor Who, after all. They all sank in different ways, and The Doctor witnessed or knew of each instance. I didn't mind. A show that can sink Atlantis three times can also draft Eccleston for another go-round, as the British say. (I'm American; I hope that's what the British mean when they use that expression.) The BBC could use that time-scoop from "The Five Doctors," maybe.
Either Christopher Eccleston or Sean Pertwee--it's got to be.
As a long-time Whovian, I'll give Matt Smith's Doctor a chance, naturally.
