Hopefully it is your birthday by the time you look at this!

Sorry this took so long to write (I'll write you something proper or send you a card later! :0)

Mission Parameters

~For caesyrian, on her birthday~

He had learned the operating parameters, by now, and knew exactly how Chidori expected him to comply with them.

The target date was, as was pounded into his memory with her halisen - he had to commend her on her technique in hand-to-hand combat with such a seemingly harmless weapon, though - that February the 14th was a day on which certain objectives needed to be accomplished.

However, despite having knowledge of the initial procedures, Sousuke was at an utter loss as to how to proceed to accomplish the necessary objectives.

Mao had suggested something about booking a hotel for his use on the date indicated…that he had not completely understood. He had no need for leave time from his current objective, so the notion of acquiring other lodgings seemed superfluous.

Kalinin had offered to make a dinner of Borscht for him to take to Chidori. However, as he had already emerged with a large amount of collateral damage from an encounter with the man’s stew, Sousuke felt that exposing Chidori to toxic elements of that sort might go against his mission parameters.

Sousuke had thought that anything Kurz said would somehow violate the protocol of the mission. His initial aim was to appease the mission target.

Thus, he went to what he though should be an exemplary informant who had come through many missions with Chidori completely unscathed.

Affirmative, he decided with his usual sharp military efficacy, Tokiwa is the only one who is outfitted with the specific knowledge necessary for such an operation.

In engaging Tokiwa’s outside agency, he had found himself with an entirely new set of mission parameters.

“Sagara-san,” she said frowning, “You still have to follow the recipe!”

Tokiwa had also objected when he had told her that an apron was not proper issue for a specialist.

She merely responded with an order for him to procure a list of supplies from the supermarket that were integral to their mission’s aims.

Apparently, CalorieMate bars were outside of Tokiwa’s current mission objectives.

When he returned from his supplies foray, she handed him a small crate of strawberries and ordered him to cut them up. Sousuke, however, was rather surprised when Tokiwa hit him with the wooden spoon that she was using to mix the double boiler full of chocolate when he commenced to carry out his new objective with the help of his combat knife.

She then unceremoniously dumped the mangled strawberry he had already succeeded in chopping up in the garbage can.

“Sagara-san,” she said with a tone of exasperation that was completely lost upon Sousuke, “Kana-chan has got to have something that looks presentable.”

Sousuke contemplated this revelation for a moment.

“In Afghanistan we were not concerned by the aesthetic qualities of our meals.”

Kyouko, with an air of martyred defeat, nodded at his story and returned to stirring the chocolate.

“Of course,” said Sousuke in a very thoughtful voice, “It is hard for rats to live up to Chidori’s strict visual criterion concerning the preparation of meals.”

Kyouko felt herself gag just a bit and, attempting to take her mind off the unpleasant mental imagery that her classmate had just put in her head, she remained stirring the chocolate and watching Sagara out of the corner of her eye as he remained chopping the remainder of the strawberries with military precision.

In an act that took strategy and an informed knowledge of Chidori’s school schedule, Sousuke set up an observation post that had a clear view of the exit of the locker room on the target date of the 14th.

Through his Mithril issue sniper scope, he observed as Kaname emerged from the room with an almost embarrassed smile on her face, holding a packet of strawberry chocolate wrapped in sterilized plastic and duct tape.

Sousuke, feeling a funny feeling in his chest, decided that his mission had been a success.

A/N: Written at the request of the lovely caesyrian for a SousukexKaname drabble, from Sousuke’s POV involving strawberry chocolate! I’m sorry if everyone is a tad bit OOC because I haven’t written FMP in a very long time. But I do really love Sousuke! <3
