Wow. I love Kyouya-Tamaki loyalty stories. I love the friendship between these two. And I really loved Kyouya's analysis of Haruhi's impact on his friend--I love TamakixHaruhi as well.

The use of Alice and the chessboard in this story was a very nice touch. Kyouya is rather good with analogies. Or should I say YOU are rather good with analogies. I found myself nodding in agreement while reading about Haruhi being the rook that moved directly and destructively, and about "Alice" making them realize that Wonderland isn't real. It was all so well crafted.

Thank you very much for writing this (and part 1, which I just read and also enjoyed). I eagerly await the next chapter, which I assume is Haruhi's point of view? In anycase, great work!

Yeah for extensive feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed it ^_^

The funny thing is, I actually know next to nothing about chess as I have only played one game in my life...but because the scenario was so fitting I had to go interrogate one of my friends about all of the pieces.

But Haruhi as a destructive force was an interesting idea to me...although no one but Kyouya would look at her that way.

And, while Haruhi will appear in the very last chapter, the next chapter is going to be a complete experiment in characterization...as I have not seen any fic attempt to use him except in passing. Hope that enigmatic preview interests you. ^_^

Anyways, thank you for your wonderful feedback. I really appreciate it!

Ah, hello. I am lais_mendes, or as you would better know me, X Amount of Words from FFN. I am also much too lazy to log into my other account. This current one is my ouran_parody account. :D;;

I just have to say, since I never often comment on LJ fan fictions, this was absolutely wonderful. Genius writing, and the references to Alice and chess...amazing.

Don't feel bad, I've never played chess either.

But still, marvelous.

As for the next chapter, is it Yuzuru, Tamaki's father? That's my best guess.

Keep up the great work!!

After all, it's expected from an English Lit. Major. I just can't get over that!

Ah! Hello! I know you!

This piece was an absolute surprise to me because it came out nothing like I had outlined it in my head. But I really like it.

And your guess concerning the next chapter is very good. ^_^ I was debating doing a chapter on Tamaki's grandmother as well....but that may break my brain.

Ah, yes...my dear major...and the fics that are poorly disguised writing excercises...in fact have just read situational character study #2! Oh dear...

WOW.

I just finished reading Part 1, and now Part 2 - and all I can say is that I'm awestruck by your ability to delve right into the characters' minds and write from there! I love your interpretation of Tamaki's family situation, and I love how you use chess and Alice to tell Kyouya's perspective! Your portrayal of the Kyouya/Tamaki friendship is spot on, and I love the Tamaki/Haruhi in Part 1 as well! Please write more soon! I really can't wait to read more!

To be fair, my favorite characters are Tamaki and Kyouya, so their characterizations are fairly solid in my head...now the Hitachiin twins....^^U

But in the end, I love how this turned out. Kyouya has a nasty habit of walking in and taking over when I write his parts. But I love the slight contrasts between Kyouya's views of Tamaki's situation and Tamaki's own...namely how Tamaki only kind of recognizes the eventual consequences of his actions, but Kyouya already knows full well where they are going. However. despite this, Kyouya will most likely see it to the end despite his reservations.

I write too much ~_~. Anyways, thank you again for your lovely feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter and I'll try to get the next done within a week or so... ^_^

Oh, I don't think you write too much - I love reading what you write! ^_^ And your grasp of Tamaki's and Kyouya's characters are astounding - Kyouya is such an interesting character (especially after watching episode 17)!

And you're welcome! I was only telling the truth, is all! =) And no rush necessary - take as long as you need, ne? (The reader in me is always hoping for quick updates, but I also realise that it takes a lot of time for authors to write! So yeah, just take as long as you need! ^_^)

Episode 17 ^_^ Kyouya got so much love...he's a really wonderful spaz (what a backhanded compliment). My favorite part was probably when Tamaki put the missing child report out on him. And on a totally non-Kyouya related note...they actually put Antoinette in ( ... )

It is very interesting to think of the Host club as chess pieces! I can't decide where to put the twins & Hani & Mori.

Hmmm...I actually know nothing about chess so I had to go ask experts again...so here's how the entire Host Club chess situation would play out:

The twins - they would definitely be the pawns because they can move in a variety of ways...and the way I understand it they start out moving 2 spaces (the twins always get a bit of a jump on people in terms of their plans) and then one space...and that's where Kyouya and others catch up.

Hunny - Both Mori and him are a bit harder to place. Hunny would be the Knight in my mind...although his movements are somewhat predictable (i.e. he moves in an L shape), he can jump over other pieces...and Hunny is known for coming out with surprising insights and such when the other members of the Host Club least expect it.

And last, but not least...

Mori - He would be the Bishop who moves directly in a diagonal line. Although he does move in a straight line, more or less, across the board, he lacks Haruhi's true straightforward nature and is a bit off kilter...perhaps that's a stretch ( ... )

Your insight to the charactes is amazing. And metaphors. I loved the whole chess thing and the Wonderland thing. I hadn't really considered Haruhi being a kind of destructive force to their carefully crafted world before.

I think only Kyouya would think of her as a destructive force...because he stands to lose the most in my mind. He also realizes that the the world of the Host Club can't necessarily last forever. He faces that everyday as he tries to gain his father's approval ( ... )

I'd love to read (or write) about something like that myself, but I've no where near the talent to put something like that into words. And I can totally see that. Already Haruhi's kind of shattering their world by changing their viewpoints on certain things.

And I appreciate the essay. I love talking about things like this.

And with Kyouya being the one to realize that the Host Club isn't going to last forever I see that too. I kind of touched on that in a roleplay I did. I was playing Kyouya, and was going to have him talk to Tamaki the summer before their senior year about what he was going to do with his future because after high school, the Host Club would end, at least for him, and he'd have to grow up a little and move on and find something else in life.

I think your insight to the series and the characters though is amazing like I said.
