Day of the Moon, Crack Theory Extravaganza

Well, this series is off to a cracking start, isn't it? Not only can I not wait until next episode, but this danged show is making me go back and analyze all sorts of bread crumb moments in series 5 and series 4 (to be fair, only "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead", but still!).

And Here We Are, Off To Crack Land )

eleventh doctor, doctor who, wtf, crack, incoherent fangirling

This episode, however, was filled with blink and you miss it stuff...for example, who exactly was the woman in the child's room? What did she mean by looking at Amy and remarking she was dreaming? Exactly how long was Amy with the Silence (especially since they were in what could or could not be a functioning time machine)?

THIS^^^

I think that woman peering through the peephole is going to prove to be the most significant development in this episode - and I'd spend the rest of the season looking out for similar moments, in case random peephole-people turn out to be this season's cracks. ;)

I'm probably going to be proved wrong about this...

Yes, it seems to me the Silence have been trying to recreate the Time Lords, breeding a special Time Child and nurturing her in that spacesuit. As to why - who can say? Are they Time Lords themselves (witness the Evil TARDIS) or working for some Time Lord survivor? We've been threatened with the reappearance of Omega for quite a long while, if you believe the cracky rumour mill. Also, if they're parasites who get others to build their technology for them, then they could have got Time Lords to build the Evil TARDIS for them back when there were still Time Lords, I guess.

Yeah, with the sheer effort it took to drop that in there as nonchalantly as possible, it has got to be terribly important. Also, the fact that Amy is "sleeping" (maybe she's a Time Lady of some sort, too...?) is important. Notably, we don't get a reminder of this particular revelation at the episode's Amy memory montage. That just screams for you to notice it.

Oh, Omega. I hadn't even thought of that. By now, he's an echo himself working out of an alternate universe (at least at the end of The Three Doctors...there may be continuity about I am unaware of.) But that would make an outstanding amount of sense...

This series is going to hurt my head, I think. Well, it already is in quite a good way.

Yes it was far too random not to be significant...! Now, can Moffat pull off the "...and it was all a dream!" thing without it seeming rubbish?? ;D

Yes - Omega... His name has been bandied about for more than a year now - and Moffat could pass him off as a new big bad without confusing the new viewers too much, while making the oldschool fans squee a bit.

Yes, definitely! :)
