to find the best beer available in my community...most of you reading this don't care, but I'm writing this to keep a record. read if you like.
I've had a variety of the American lagers and such. My favorite that America has offered me, thus far, is Southern Pecan (yes, you taste the Pecan...it is so delicious). In the interest of money, however, my pick is Miller High-Life.
- I'm now branching out to imported beer. I tried a Jewish-American beer, "He'Brew"(Sadly, not the chosen beer)
- I tried a German ale, "Paulaner"....it was so so, but there are other varieties.
- Italian beer, "Birra Morretti"....it was pretty good. It was thicker than I expected, but not too filling. It'll be up there when I do a ranking.
- Let's see.....I dig some Jamaican beer, "Redstripe"....great taste, but a little too heavy.
- a Dutch beer called "Bavaria". It was outstanding! I can't place the source of the fresh aftertaste....maybe it's just their water supply, but it is one of my favorites now.
- a dark beer (Dunkel) from Munich made by "Spaten". it was mediocre. (so far, Germany for its reputation has not impressed me, but it has such variety that it's too soon to tell)
- I tried a Lithuanian beer. I can't read let alone pronounce the brand (i think it began with a K). Either way, it wasn't anything special. I didn't even bother to finish it actually.
- Russian.....the brand name was Baltika. The flavor I chose was Golden Ale. It is one of the best beers I've ever had! It had this honey-wheat aftertaste, absolutely delicious. High in my ranking!
- Scotland's "Old Engine Oil". It was a fine beer! For those of you who like the dark, stout beers, this is pretty boss. Has the good bitter aftertaste of Dark Chocolate, but not sweet and bitched out. it was pricey for an individual bottle, but it was worth it.
This basically concludes week one of beer tasting. I'll keep updating this for a while.
