While I'm somewhat sympathetic with that group of white firefighters who are getting so much press nowadays, I laugh at some of the things I read.
WASHINGTON - A Connecticut firefighter who lost an appeals court ruling by Sonia Sotomayor has told a Senate panel...advancement has to be determined by skill and qualifications.
Hearing a straight white male champion the cause of skill and qualifications as a basis for advancement is something that I find funny. I do think that "reverse discrimination" (why is it called "reverse"? why can't actual "discrimination" apply to everyone? call it "non-traditional" or something.) is a concern, but I have a feeling people don't actually care about discrimination in general. They only care about it as it pertains to them. And being part of some pretty underrepresented minority groups, I've got to say that the message we get is "fuck the other guys, gimme muh rightz!"
