crash into me

Last night I finally got around to watching Crash.  I don't think it's a movie that you're meant to like, but it was...I guess it was decent.  Congrats on making a racially-charged version of Magnolia.

I don't really think all that much about racism.  For the most part, I'm content to live in a white world.  I'm comfortable being the inconspicuous quasi-exotic outsider.  It's nice feeling like a special snowflake and being able to distance yourself from society at will, but sort of blend in when necessary.  I suppose it might be less self-centered to live in a more diverse city, but honestly I've been stereotyped more in those places than I am here.  For all of its faults, at least SLC doesn't have personal ads littered with "asians only", "no blacks", "please be white", etc.  That's not to say that I can't see the look flash across people's face "Oh...you're not...one of us." or "Oh my, that's an...interesting last name."  But they hesitate long enough for me to make a judgment and a decision.  I guess it really is all about power after all.
