We're not stupid, we can catch the story in the middle. Moreover, it already tell us than Gabriella is alive, because this trick is used to make us believe they're going to show how they failed to save her. Except, they'll never do it. They would not take the depressing way.
So it's someone else, and I hope they didn't think not showing Ziva would make us doubt.

I don't understand why Ziva is smiling and then looked shocked. She was warned the girls were tortured. At the beginning of the episode.
The actress playing the oldest doesn't stop smiling. It's kind of cute. And Ziva is adorable in this scene, but how the girls have difficulty finding the good words in English and yet understand Ziva's questions? When she can actually talk their language?
Probably a case of 'the viewer won't bother reading the subtitles'. But still, they could have Ziva do the back and forth. Way faster for the girls to use their words instead of the translation.
But then, it would be up to the little actresses to say their lines in another language…

It's like GG kept in mind the complains about Faith and the christian being the killer when he wrote that. I think the deal Tony's talking was made a long time ago, maybe around Baltimore. Maybe even before, or it was about this kid he almost lost then.

That…doesn't make any sense. At first, I thought one of the kid was his.
This thing started seriously, moved into funny/serious with the bucket list, then became serious again and it end with the kids?
It doesn't fit. At all. Or it's serious, or it's a joke. It's like GG changed his mind at the last moment, or rewrote something. Personally, I'm going to assume Tony simply gave one thing which bother him (never at ease with kids under 16) to hide something bigger.
He's good at that, after all. Just look his face before he joins the kids, does he look like someone who faced something scaring? Or like something deeper than that?
See, GG has good ideas, but doesn't know how to create them seamlessly. His plot are disjointed, he doesn't know how to logically link everything. That's why Nature of the Beast was better done, the back and forth between present and past allowed enough liberty, no need for tight connection. Same for A Man Walk Into a Bar…, the memories of Kate were the connections. It helped to hide the plotholes.
Maybe nobody really review his scripts because he's the boss. It's too bad, so much could be easily fixed with some edit here and there, without changing the plot and his plans. (More scenes between Quincy and Ziva, reduce the numbers of flashbacks, get rid of the damn 48h before, don't have Tony face his fear, only talk to Cadman and use the whole thing of 'I could die tomorrow and my life is not where I wanted it to be.')
By the way, did they explain the missing knife? If I didn't miss the explanation and it stays without answer, I'll put this mention with the missing glasses of last year, hinting of P2P coming inside NCIS two or three episode before they knew it.
