homemade ice cream--no rock salt and no ice cream maker!

1 bag frozen fruit (12-16 oz)
3/4 cup cream or milk or whatever
bit o' vanilla
sweeten to taste

toss in blender and ta da! actually it's kind of mushy. the original recipe said to eat it straight from the blender and called it "soft serve" but I prefer to toss it into the freezer for a while to make a more ice cream-y texture.

not into fruit? try this basic recipe that is completely and totally open to variation :)

heavy whipping cream
sweeten to taste

whip with hand-held beaters until it's nice and stiff. freeze to desired consistency, mixing every now and then.

what we've got in the freezer right now is a combination of the two. like "swirled" ice cream, we made the first recipe then folded it into the whipped cream before freezing.
