eastery stuff.

I feel like I never update anymore. anyway, here's some randomness:

on friday we went to outdoor stations of the cross at a monastery in indiana. it's pretty neat, but we were pretty late (oh, around the 10th station...) it was freezing, so I'm not sure the kids could've handled the whole thing anyway... at least it ends indoors.. the 14th station is in a semi-underground grotto type thing, with a full-sized Jesus laying in the tomb statue.

I color coordinated our easter clothes. once I figured the girls had, respectively, pink and yellow dresses, and I had a yellow shirt for D, I decided to put L in a pink shirt... then chris got a yellow shirt and I got a pink one and wore it with a skirt I made back when I was 17 or so, long and black with some pink asian-style flowers embroidered on it (I didn't do the embroidery--the fabric came that way!) I'll post a pic once I decide to not be lazy and actually load one.

I managed to avoid getting much candy for the kids' easter baskets... some fruit leather, trail mix, and a little bit of chocolate just to be eastery... holy heck did they get a lot of candy from everyone else. next year, I'm skipping it all together!

I volunteered chris to make the dinner rolls for my family's easter party...normally they'd do brown-n-serve, but I got chris to make them from scratch, using his sourdough culture. turned out good, as usual.

I did a bit of baking too. we never did anything for D's birthday last month, so I decided to do it on easter. my family always has like 6 million desserts at parties, so I didn't want to overdo it. I made mini cupcakes, and only brought a dozen--iced with homemade icing, piped on with my awesome icing piping kit.

met my cousin Janel's boyfriend of 6 months. he seems to love kids, and is in nursing school! I think he'd fit well in our family, but who knows if they end up married or not.

and best for last: my cousin whohad a baby in october (3 weeks older than Ingrid) came in for their first post-baby visit! the babies met and tried to eat each others' hands. much cuteness ensued. again, photos when I am not lazy.
