Bildung:
Showing off what you’ve read and what you know is not gauche. It is a way of participating in the nation’s cultural life and taking pride in it.

xDD I don't think, that that's true, because I would look at everyone who says "But I read Goethe and Schiller and Kant. Haven't you?!" really strange and would think: What a showoff!! - and so would the most Germans *laugh*.
[But I noticed some other thing: (Mostly young) people, who want to look smart in the eyes of others, read (or try to read xD) books in English (e.g. Harry Potter), even if they are translated into German.]

Beeing Green:
What's said about the Rhine is an urban legend, in my opinion xD. In fact the most chemicals in the Rhine come from France, where they don't have the same strikt laws about industrial effluents and so on.
And in the last years the Rhine water became pretty good again. People are again bathing in the Rhine (and don't die xDD).

It was from the forests that they emerged to rampage across Europe and lay waste to Rome 2000 years ago

...and... when I'm talking about TITLES here, I can point out, that the good Majors name has to be "von Eberbach" and not "von dem Eberbach", because the "von dem" isn't existing and sounds REALLY strange... even stupid! (It's like someone would have the name "from the Eberbach" and not "of Eberbach".)
And the "von" is part of the Name, so it's "Herr von Eberbach" and "Major von Eberbach". :D

Hello ^__^

This is really going back in the posts, but I could have SWORN that we had talked about German names on the list somewhere. But I cannot find it. ;__;

I need a bunch of extras for Klaus' family, and I had been talking to someone about good names and stupid names - and I had thought that I had been speaking to you about it. Ring any bells for you?

Thanks bunches!

urks... I can remember talking about names but not really that thing with the bad/good names o.O; (family names or first names? I remember that we Germans laughed a lot about "Klaus" and "Heinz" (so, Klaus is not really that bad, but Heinz.. *shudders*)

What kind of names do you need for his family? :3
