Stranger In Paradise
Take my hand,
I'm a stranger in paradise
all lost in a wonderland,
a stranger in paradise...
If I stand starry-eyed,
that's the danger in paradise
for mortals who stand beside an angel like you.
I saw your face and ascended
out of the commonplace and into the rare...
Lost somewhere out in space, I hang suspended
until I'm certain that there's a chance that you care.
Won't you answer the fervent prayer
of a stranger in paradise?
Don't send me in dark despair
from all that I hunger for...
But open your angel's arms
to this stranger in paradise,
and tell him that he need be
a stranger no more...
If I had the power, I would make this a hymn. If I had a little less power, I would rewrite the accompaniment, record a cover of it, and make it my profile song. That Sarah Brightman doesn't do it justice.
Last weekend was a landmark with a barren mile radius in a few people's lives. Fire and water, music and silence churning my soul to stone, and all the blessings now mine - I couldn't cast out my net of words and hope to catch the overwhelming Spirit present in that evening. It was calming, stirring... And now I must type up what I can gather.
It. Was. Awesome.
After all the preparation and studying I've done, I see that the meaning of life is very clear. It's written over and over and over, in scriptures, in research, in common sense, everything. There's no way you could miss it if you just went about it the right way. All the poetry and song in the world couldn't enfold the tears dancing around my enlightened eyes. The simplicity blows me away. All this time I held the golden key to a solid lock... I'm astonished to find that what it opens is not only the lock itself, but the garden gate behind it. From the other side, everything seems obvious. From the other side, worldly debates of life and eternity are only trivial.
