it's about the ups and downs

It's unfortunate how the down's are the ones we remember, but for me, it's made me realize that I've been pretty good lately and that, hey, it's nice to be alive.

It's been a particularly bad 1.5 weeks.
1) Uncle's removed thyroid turned out to be malignant
2) Landlord who didn't want to show the apartment until we were out is giving keys to a broker to show our apartment to strangers without us having any more notice that a doorbell / cracking the door open... that put me in psychological disorder for a while. And it found my roommate in the shower
3) My hair was pulled and I was threatened to get "fucking popped in the face," I reported it, and now I temporarily have no job.
4) I feel like I'm constantly sorting out my life and where I stand, what I believe for what reasons and then painfully disassembling them.

Out of all of this, though, I feel relieved and happy. I am glad I have the opportunity to find a better job. I am happy to be growing into a better person. I know I am lucky like my uncle to have people to take care of me if I need. My decision to move is a wise one.

I have a show on Wednesday -- it's my first work that has video and text. I used to be a dance purist -- looks like I'm going somewhere else. I'm very excited about the work, but even more exciting, it seems like the community also is. A few presenters have expressed interest in coming, so I'm excited to start building a relationship with them -- they are incredible forces in the scene I'm a part of.

I also am constantly working on making a new dance company with my partner, Anthony. That's going well, and it's going to be a great support for both of our careers and interests.

I look forward to travelling to Belgium, Chicago / Iowa City, and Maine in the next 6-months. It's going to happen; it's going to, it's going to. Finding time is the difficult thing, especially now that I'm finding a new job.

But as always, I'll be sure to keep in touch... I miss you and hope you are well.
