You thought the last one had a lot of pictures?

EDIT: Are all of the pictures showing up for you? For some reason, when I look at this post, half the pictures are gone!

Day 2 -- Tuesday, May 19th!  Today was probably one of my favorite days.  It was absolutely gorgeous outside (and for the rest of the trip -- Monday was the only cloudy day) -- in the low 70s and sunny.  It was a day spent on a boat, in Greenwich Village and at the top of a building.

We woke up and got ready for the day, then took the 6 train up to the 42nd St station.  There weren't any subways that went over to the Pier, so we had to walk over about five blocks.  We arrived at the Pier at about 11:30a for the 12:30 3-hour cruise around the entire island of Manhattan.

That's the cruise we took.  We paid for the package where you could do the cruise AND the Top of the Rock observation deck (which we did later that night).

Circle Line at Pier 83.  For those BSC fans, you'll notice this is the same cruise they take in BSC Super Special #6 New York York.  A LOT of the things we did on this trip are BSC-related, because I'm a huge nerd.

This was our boat.  There were two decks and a little food area.  We started out on the upper deck, but it gets windy (and cold) on the water, so ended up moving downstairs (which was all closed in) after a while.  There was a tour guide who told you all kinds of awesome stuff about everything we passed.

This was at the beginning of the cruise, waiting for the boat to leave.

The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge

The Empire State Building from on the water (I have SO MANY pictures of this one and the Chrysler Building throughout the trip)

Manhattan.  You can also see the open area on the upper deck where we started out the trip.

Our trip started out heading towards the tip of the island, so the first MAJOR landmark we passed was the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

The famous New York skyline

This is the Staten Island Ferry.  If you ever go to New York City, you can take this ferry to Staten Island and back for FREE, and it takes you right past the Statue of Liberty.

Coming up on the Brooklyn Bridge

South Street Seaport, a shopping complex, at Pier 17

The Brooklyn Bridge.

The Manhattan Bridge that connects to Brooklyn.  In total, I think there are 17 bridges that connect Manhattan to elsewhere.

This is the United Nations Headquarters (with the Chrysler Building in the background)

Some apartment buildings and stuff

This is the Roosevelt Island Tram, connecting Manhattan to Roosevelt Island, next to the Queensboro Bridge

Old Yankee Stadium

New Yankee Stadium

This is apparently the tower from the poem "Annabel Lee" by Edgar Allen Poe (that's what the tour guide said, anyway)

I love these pictures, because you think "Manhattan" and think of skyscrapers, but this looks like it could be somewhere up north in Michigan.  it actually looks like places near where Anthony goes to school.

This is The Cloisters, located in Fort Tryon Park.  It's a 16th-century monastary that was transported to Manhattan.  It's now part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This is the George Washington Bridge (one of them, anyway.  New Yorkers are apparently big fans of Washington and Henry Hudson).

This little lighthouse inspired a children's book called The Great Gray Bridge and the Little Red Lighthouse.

This is Grant's Tomb.  (Question: Who's buried there? Answer: Technically, no one, as both Ulysses S. Grant and his wife, Julia, weren't buried there, but entombed like in a mausoleum.)

More bars in more places

The big gray thing in the middle of the picture is the USS Intrepid.  It's now a museum on a ship.  They were getting ready to celebrate the start of Fleet Week (which was the next day, Wednesday).

After the cruise was over, we decided to head on over to Greenwich Village.  It's one of my most favorite neighborhoods in Manhattan.

We got lunch at Famous Joe's Pizza, which was the place where Peter Parker worked in Spiderman 2.  It's such delicious NY-style pizza.  We ate right across the street in this little park.

We ate on the steps right in front of this fountain.

Then, we began our search for...

The apartment building where Monica, Rachel, Chandler and Joey lived!

Monica and Chandler? No, it's just Anthony and me!

The Friends' apartment building is at the corner of Bedford and Grove Streets.

This was a pipe across the street.  New York makes me laugh.

Next we started on our way to Washington Square Park.

But first, we passed the Huxtables' brownstone, from The Cosby Show!

Washington Square Park

The Washington Square Arch

Many of the lamp posts in the Village were decorated with tiles.

This was the entrance to the subway at Astor Place.  Most of the subway entrances in the city are just stairs.  I liked this one because it's so fancy!

After Washington Square Park, we headed back to our hotel to get ready for Top of the Rock and our anniversary dinner.

Anthony and I headed over to Rockefeller Center to go to the Top of the Rock observation deck.  We got there at about 8, right as the sun began to set.  You take this sweet elevator that has a glass ceiling so you can see the pully on the way up. It's lighted and they play a video as you go up.  Once you're at the 66th floor, you can take stairs up to the 67th and 68th floors.

This is looking out over Central Park.

This is looking out towards downtown Manhattan

New Yorkers and visitors to NY are quite friendly and offer to take pictures for you.

And moving up higher

These are bridges (I warned you about my crappy night shots)

So Anthony and I are up on the third floor deck and I'm standing near the wall taking pictures.  I look over and he's behind me, taking pictures of me.  He tells me to turn around so he can take a few more.  He just keeps taking pictures.  Finally, I'm like, "What are you doing?" so I go over to him to see what he's taken.  As he's showing me a few of the pictures, he also pulls out a ring box and flips it open.  "Will you?" he asks.  Obviously, I said yes!

This was right as he started putting the ring on my finger.

Later, as we're walking back downstairs to go to the elevator, Anthony goes, "You know, I never finished asking you.  Will you marry me?"

After that, we decided to find somewhere to eat a late dinner.  My mom gave us $100 to go to a fancy dinner on our anniversary (she had won at the casino before we left).  We started walking towards Times Sqaure and finally decided on the Olive Garden, which is right in Times Square.  I've never been to Olive Garden before, but it was delicious (I had the chicken marsala).  We also called parents and told them the news.

After a long day we headed back to our hotel and went to sleep.

Tomorrow: Chinatown and Lower Manhattan
