NOT DIAL UP FRIENDLY

It's the post you've all been waiting for...

MY TRIP TO NEW YORK CITY! This is probably going to come in five installments, as I have tons of pictures (over seven hundred). So here it goes...

Day 1 -- Monday, May 18th

Our flight was at 12:15p. We left at 9a for the airport and got there about 10a. We figured security might take a while, but we got through really quickly, so we had a few hours to kill. Luckily DTW has quite a few stores to look around in, so we killed a smidge of time.

These are from in the airport and on the plane.

This was our plane (boarding from gate D30). I thought it was going to be a big 747, but it was just a little regional jet. There were two seats on one side, a little aisle, and then one seat on the other side. Maybe 20 rows back? TINY.

Pulling out of the gate.

Okay, this is one of my favorite pictures. If you look near the bottom left of the plane window, you can see a cluster of black buildings. Across the river is a white building. The black buildings are the Renaissance Center and the white one is Casino Windsor. This was flying past Detroit.

Coming in over New York (Queens, not Manhattan)

LAGUARDIA AIRPORT!

So now we're IN NEW YORK CITY! We got off the plane and went to go find our luggage. They had TVs in the baggage claim area, telling you where to pick up your baggage, but they never updated it for our flight! We were waiting for probably ten or fifteen minutes, before some guy who recognized us from the flight told us, "Hey, all the bags are over there." Thanks LGA. So we got our baggage and went to go find the bus I had reserved to take us to our hotel in Manhattan. We were able to get right on, so away we go!

MANHATTAN! We took the Lincoln Tunnel into Manhattan.

The bus dropped us off at Grand Central Terminal and then we transferred to another bus that took us right to our hotel.

We stayed at Hotel 31, on 31st in the Murray Hill neighborhood. It was such a cute little neighborhood. The hotel was on the small side (I'll show you room pictures later), but really cozy. We had to share a bathroom, but it really wasn't a big deal at all. We checked in, unpacked a little bit and ended up falling asleep for an hour or so. After we woke up, we decided to go explore the Murray Hill area and then on to Times Square at night.

The Empire State Building

Macy's

For all the Project Runway fans, Parson's and the infamous Red Lobster from the 2nd season ("What happened to Andre?")

And coming into Times Square!

They leave the ball up all year around

IN TIMES SQUARE!

MTV Studios (where they used to film TRL)

Anthony and I went to the GIANT Toys R Us in Times Square. No, it's really giant, as you'll see.

These were all made of Legos!

There is a ferris wheel INSIDE the store! It's about three stories tall and you ride in toys!

Back into Times Square

M&Ms World

This is our hotel, Hotel 31.
(Sorry the pictures are so crappy. As these entries go on, you'll find that the later at night it is, the worse my pictures are. I have no idea why I take awful pictures at night).

This is our room, room 514. You'd go up the stairs and exit on your left through a door. Right across the hall was our room. When facing our door, the bathroom was right next door, to the left. All of these pictures were taken in the corner by the door.

Anthony on the bed.

On the small side, but very nice and cozy. I really enjoyed staying here.
