Blergh, have some art.

Having a crappy long day. I've been in classes since 8:30, just now eating dinner.

Anyways, here's a piece from last week! We had to do a contour drawing of a still life, and give it the feeling of a cityscape. I was inspired by my hometown-- a small city with stout buildings. I wanted to give the impression of being IN the city so I used a low vantage point.

I was really nervous about how it would do at critique, but much to my surprise, my teacher absolutely loved it! She said it was beautiful, and believe me, she does NOT just say that to anyone. She said it was a HUGE improvement from my last contour-- so much so that she didn't even recognize it was mine.

Right now we're working on negative space, woo. I also turned in my first project for figure drawing, but I don't know how I did on that yet. I got a B on my 2nd 3D project, which was to make 5 wire gestures in sequence preforming an action. Right now my 3D assignment is to use one of those poses and create a nude figure with sculpy, showing all of the muscle groups. Oy vey.

art, ringling, life as an art student
