okay, so this is mostly for sugar1480, but can be used by others. it's for PHOTOSHOP CS2, but may be applicable to other photoshops, I'm not sure.

Thank you so much I am so excited to try it! My only question thus far, not actually having tried it on my own is this: If I wanted a layer with just text, or wanted to add text to one of the layers how would I do that?
I added your icon community to my friends list. :)

you can click 'new' layer to make a new one, then add text to that. when you add text to anything it makes the text its own layer, so if you want to make the text part of the layer, you have to click 'merge down' under 'layer'.

but yeah...I hope that helps! I can do a more complicated animation tutorial later once you get the hang of this. most of my photoshop knowledge was just from trial and error...I just kinda mess around with it and see what happens, lol XD

hey, I was wondering if you could tell me how you make icons with bits of video in them?
I added you as a friend too btw, I hope that's okay!

well, I can't go into insane detail, lol but basically

you know how theres a key on the keyboard that says 'print screen' right? so go to a video, and pause it. then click print screen. have photoshop open. click 'new' on photoshop, make a new canvas, and paste the screen cap on there. (edit + paste) and the whole youtube screen will appear. thats good. then go back to the video, and let it go for like...a split second then pause it and cap it again. then keep pasting the screen caps onto photoshop, and it will automatically make them into layers. then just crop the entire thing into a square and resize it so that you keep the animation centered.

hope that helps. I may make a tutorial later if you need it. im not at home right now Im in england. and I'll add you!

ooh you're in England?? That's so fun!

Ugh, that sounds like a lot of work. It makes sense though. How can you be sure you stay within the allowed size limits?

its really easy once you get the hang of it. its way easier than doing still icons.

and to do that, when you resize the icon after you crop it into a sort of square, just make sure that the sizes are under 100x100. often it'll be like 100x97 or whatever, doesn't matter. :) hoep that helps, I will try and get a tutorial of some kind with caps made in the next while.
