Okay, I know I bitch a lot about the warplane flyovers, but today's was a little more interesting:

What appeared to be a C-130 trailing a fuel line followed, in a very loose formation, by two Phantom f-4s (I think) and a pair of f-15s or f-18s. That's not something you see everyday, even around here.

Okay, so I lied. I said I was not going to adhere to the Sestina form exactly, and I ended up doing it. One of the things I just read online is that it's worth trying to adhere strictly to a form the first time you try it.

Did I mention that the sight and especially sound of F-18s flying overhead in formation has long since lost it's novelty? No? Well, it has.

Go figure.

We weren't here for spring and early summer of last year, so I missed what I assume is an early-summer kind of occurrence: the lovely buzzing hum of grasshoppers. When I have the window open in my office, the sound drifts in with a kind of lovely laziness.

It's not all bad.

This is the first time I've lived in a town where people will display a spoof "Intel Inside" sticker that says "Redneck Inside" proudly on their giant Ford with lift kit.

It wasn't exactly inspirational to see this truck turn into the local School District Admin offices, either.

Bleah.

I know I complain a lot, but I'll tell you one thing that blows about our location here in Poway: we're on the Helicopter Superhighway. I can stomach a lot of noise, normally. Case in point: the Marine Corps F-18s that roar overhead on a daily basis rarely bother me. Of course, those are usually at a respectable altitude, while the helicopters ( Read more... )
