Quotable II: The Quotening

There haven't been any Howard Stern Show downloads available this week, and since I finished the latest episode of Mouuse & Sqrrl, I resorted to throwing the iPod on 'Shuffle.'

I have a 4 gig Nano, so I have to be really choosy about the music I load. What I'm trying to do lately is load a lot of stuff I haven't listened to a whole lot along with various favorites that I haven't heard in awhile, with a dash of stuff that I love no matter how much I've heard it.

From the "forgot how much I liked this song" category this morning came Rise Against - Rumors Of My Death Have Been Greatly Exaggerated. While the song's title pushes the emo boundary of ridiculous length, the song is wonderful. The chorus is particularly poigniant. Well, as poigniant as raw-throated thrash-punk can get, at any rate:

"When I die will they remember not what I did but what I haven't done?
It's not the end that I fear with each breath, it's life that scares me to death

When we built these dreams on sand
How they all slipped through our hands
This might be our only chance

Let's take this one day at a time
Ii'll hold your hand if you hold mine
The time that we kill keeps us alive"

You can read the rest here. Lyrics sites can be nasty, disclaimer, yadda yadda.

Anyway, this made me think a little bit of aduvanchek, and so I think it's a lil' shout-out to her. :)
