More developments, one way and the other. Felt as if I was changing my mind on decision every minute and what I decided would then depend on what minute I had to decide in.
So I wrote out list of reasons to move and not to move. I have more reasons *not to move* but of course not all reasons are equal.
I should move because:
* it will be warm and I won't have to worry about heating costs. Current cold conditions sap my energy to get things done.
* it will cost slightly less than where I am currently staying - no council tax, no bills other than net connection
* it will be a fresh start away from the stress I've had at Cally
* I am highly unlikely to find a better deal, agencywise - especially as they negotiated the rent down for me.
* I'll be responsible only for my own room - other tenants will not cause me problems with agency
* Admin issues with addresses can be tackled by redirecting my mail through Royal Mail (for CHX, HMRC, etc.)
* 2 minutes from the platforms for 2 major tube lines means easy access
I should stay because
* repairs and renovations will be done across the whole house in the next week - these are definite and may make a difference, especially if I can convince them to put in double-glazing while they're at it
* I'd have to pay double rent for December, given I've already paid rent for Cally in December.
* if the Cally agents know I'm moving, they'll be far more reluctant to reimburse my Sept-Dec rent, and I could do with the money
* I might lose my current doctor and have to gamble finding a new one - my current one is very much someone who gets it.
* I will be locked into a contract where I could have trouble if I don't get work after March - not a problem where I currently am
* I know the house, and I know what problems there are with it. It has been home for half a year and it's familiar.
* I can always look for somewhere else, and have more time to do so if I do not move now.
* the commute to/from work will be more crowded
* I know my current housemates are okay. The new place might have problematic tenants.
* I know this shouldn't be a reason, but I'd be screwing over my housemate R who has been doing his very best to hold this place together lately
* I can always get a portable heater for my room at Cally so the cold will be less of an issue.
* It won't be as easy to have guests over - there is no social space at Finsbury other than the kitchen
* moving will be a stress and hassle at this time of year, just before Christmas
