This past Friday night (June 23) was the monthly game of my bingo group,
The Bingo Belles. It was a very funny and fun game with a good turnout and great prizes!
For a (short, I promise) review of it, along with some photos of the players, the food and the gifts, just click below! ;D
First things first: I want to again thank Becky S. (
beckerbuns) and her very cool mom Gayle for co-hosting the June game at Gayle's home. I also want to thank everyone who joined us: Becky R. (another person by that name), Jenny, Jeri and Coleen. Ina and
soojaebi were also supposed to come, but at the last minute, they both had conflicts turn up, and they had to cancel. :( Well, there's always next month! :) (The same goes for the other folks who knew ahead of time they couldn't attend this time).
OH! And for the second time this year, we were joined by a short, blond and handsome gentleman! (heehee) It was actually Becky S.'s 8-year-old son Andrew, who played with the Belles the last time bingo was at Gayle's, in February. Andrew is patient and not at all "sore loser-ish" when he doesn't win, and when he *does* win a game, he is a gracious winner. He also has a fun sense of humor and gets along well with the group -- hopefully he'll play again with us some time! :D
This link is mainly for my own use; it leads to a journal entry Becky S. wrote about the bingo game (well, and other things) and the cool gifts she, Gayle and Andrew won. Her journal is mostly friends-locked, so if the link doesn't go anywhere for you, that's why. It does go somewhere for me. :)
And now, onward to the photos and captions! (One of
justjesi's fave things! heehee)
At last month's game, the gift I brought was a cute, colorful cupcake cookbook (hows that for alliteration?) and a multi-pack of festive candy sprinkles. Jeri ended up winning it, and what should she bring as a treat to this month's game but CUPCAKES she baked from a recipe in the book, topped with creamy chocolate frosting, plus SPRINKLES from the sprinkle pack! *giggle* (They were brownie cupcakes and delicious!)
After meaning to bring
beckerbuns one of my Mandarin Orange Fluff Pies for at least two months (she's been craving mandarin oranges during her pregnancy), I finally made one! And it was a hit with everyone who tried it. *blush* The photo I took didn't turn out so well, so I'm using 2 pix I took the last time I made this pie -- only last time, I used a chocolate pie crust that wasn't too flavourful. This time I used an Oreo cookie crust! (The recipe is just mandarin oranges, orange Jello, water, Cool Whip or whipping cream, lemon juice, orange peel and lemon peel. Email me for the measurements, if you're interested!)
Here are 2 group shots. The first one I took, so I'm not in it. (Duh! heehee) The second one was taken by Coleen. Andrew really likes hamming for the camera, methinks!
Here is the pile of gifts before anyone started winning, opening and stealing them. Thank you, Roo, for presenting them to us! ;D
And finally, a photo of the (plastic?) fork and spoon hanging above Gayle's table. Sorry about the overexposure from the lamp. Anyhoo, they were suspended on some type of springy wire, so that if you gently pulled or pushed them, they started twirling and bouncing around. For some reason, it struck me VERY funny! (It also kept distracting me!) Hmmm, maybe I'd have bingo-ed a few more times had it not been for that intrusive cutlery! *giggle*
