I stole "updatey thingie" long ago from my longtime friend
beckerbuns who used before & I always liked it. :) Maybe because I'm the type of person who likes adding "y" to make something an adjective; for example, I say "crackery things" if I'm talking about snacks that might or might not be crackers, but are definitely cracker-like. (And I'll never forget how much it tickled my best friend
soojaebi hen we were shopping for snacks before a Renaissance Faire. Ah, the weirdness of being a word nerd! *blush* *giggle*
Anyhoo, today was a good day overall. I did not one but two loads of laundry (wash, dry & put away). I went to
Safeway (my fave supermarket) because I realized we were almost out of ice cream (heaven forbid!); while there I picked up a few other things too. Before Safeway I stopped at the Starbucks in the same shopping center (but not in the Safeway) & got a
Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino. (However, unlike what it suggests on that webpage, I get the tall size, which is smaller than the grande. And I get it with 2% milk and lately with nonfat milk because I don't notice much of a different in taste, but it's definitely healthier in terms of watching fat & cholesterol! While sitting at the table in Starbucks, using their free WiFi to check Safeway's sales via the Safeway app for my Android phone, I noticed a girl next to me was using a smartphone that had a two-tone magenta-and-purple phone case that looked like it was made by
OtterBox. I asked her if it was and she was excited to say yes! She was also excited to show off her new iPhone 5 (big whoop! heh). We had a nice little chat about our phone cases & their attributes good & bad. Then a guy sitting nearby heard us and asked what we thought about our OtterBox cases, as he was thinking of getting one too, although I don't know if it was for an iPhone or an Android phone. At the bottom of this entry I'm including a pic of what an Otterbox purple/magenta two-part case looks like for the Samsung Galaxy S3.
OK, after Safeway I came back home and went thru another pile of paper miscellany from one of my plastic storage containers, shredding a little and dumping a lot into the recycling bin. That felt good! I would have spent even more time going thru it except I got an email from Cathy, the content manager/editor with GHG who sends me the freelance CE course modules to proofread/edit. She sent me one that needs a relatively fast turnaround, so I got to work on it instead of doing more work cleaning out my house junk, which doesn't have a time element on it like my paid freelancing does! The topic of this one is the danger of venous thromboembolism & everything you could think of relating to that topic.
One last quick thing before returning to my editing: earlier today on Facebook I asked the following in a status update: "What are some of your fave ways to cook with STUFFING? (i.e. StoveTop Stuffing). Not as in stuffing a bird. As in casserole-y things or one-dish meals, that type of thing. :) Just hoping to collect some creative & tasty ideas, & I know a lot of you love to cook. Thanks!" I was happily surprised by how many folks commented with tips, and a few with actual recipes! One was "Apple Sausage Stuffing" from my friend Leslie R.S. (the niece of my mom's best friend F.R.) The recipe sounds very simple, with a good balance between sweet and savory, and with some secret ingredients you probably wouldn't expect to find there. Sounds delicious; i will definitely try it! I also got a recipe for "Chicken Casserole" from Shawn's cousin Christine F.T., but don't be fooled by its name -- it definitely does NOT sound ordinary! I'd like to try that one as well. Thank you ladies!
OOPS! Two more additional things: Shawn and I took a brisk, healthy walk after he came home from work but before we had dinner. It wasn't the longest of walks, but it was brisk & the weather was nice. ANY exercise is better than NO exercise! :) And the other thing is that earlier today, my mom & I talked on the phone for more than 30 minutes, and it went very well. It used to be a dreaded any phone conversation w/ her because it always seemed to end up with me feeling aggro, depressed, guilty, angry, etc. But we've been going for counseling to try to work on the various issues that have made our relationship spin downward so dysfunctionally (especially after my dad passed away) and we are definitely make positive improvements! :) Everything's not a bowl of sweet cherries yet, but we are both worked toward making things better and we ARE!
And now the photo that shows both sides of my Samsung Galaxy S3 festively purpley OtterBox case! Shawn found this case for me when looking for one for his own phone (we bought our Samsungs at the same time). He got a rugged black case & was pleasantly surprised to find they now make them in other colors too! Especially purple-and-magenta! ;D I bet the majority of these purchases are by, or for, women!
And now back to my proofreading/ediitng! And bedtime soon after!
