Tonight's icon has nothing to do with this entry, except for the fact that I photographed the flowers myself (they're bicoloured sweet peas), and I photographed several things over the weekend too. :) For a preview of what they're all about, check the keywords below!
Psyche! ;D Actually I want to record another of my crazy dreams first, then on to the pix! I only remember a fragment of the dream anyway, which I had last night. I was in some debate/mild argument with Meredith Peters, a.k.a. "The Hook Lady", a bizarre minor character on the TV series
Boston Public. She was ranting about "sinners", and how anyone who didn't follow her religion was sinful. Oddly, I'm not even sure WHAT her religion was! But she was very zealous about it, and in her sanctimonious condemnation of others. :( :( Oh, and crazily enough, she also felt that people who watched SpongeBob SquarePants were sinners! LOL!
I told her I did not consider myself a sinner, and she looked me in the eye and hissed "liar!" It was horrid! So I gave her a piece of my mind! I told her that if anyone deserves to be called a sinner (not that I even believe in or use that term), it would be murderers, rapists, child abusers, and maybe also people who chat on their spouses. It would NOT be folks who happen to follow other religions (or no religion at all), and it sure as hell wouldn't be people who watch SpongeBob! Sorry, but I don't recall how the dream ended. I just remember I felt aggro when I woke up! *chuckle* And now, the pix!!
On Friday, I went on several errands with my mom. We also had lunch at
Applebee's, because I've had a $10 gift card for it for many months, having won it at bingo. :) We each ordered from the "Pick N Pair" menu, which boasts more than 60 different combos of soups, salads, sandwiches and pastas. Here's mine: French onion soup and the "fried chicken salad", which had breaded chicken breast pieces, lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, hard-boiled egg pieces and a delicious honey mustard dressing. Oh, and a breadstick. (It's a cameraphone photo; hence it's terrible).
And for dessert, we shared one of Applebee's famous "dessert shooters"! This one was whipped cream, strawberries, cheesecake and a cookie crust. YUM! (Again, sorry about the poor quality cameraphone shot! :( Even PhotoShop doesn't help much)
On Saturday, I went to the grand re-opening celebration for the Pearl Avenue Library, the closest library to my home, and the latest renovation by the
San Jose Public Library (Association?). They totally tore down the old library, which made me kind of sad, but its new incarnation is very nice! I saw
beckerbuns there, as she works in the SJPL's temp pool. For this event, she was helping coordinate the volunteers. I was very happy we had a chance to hang out, even if it was only for a short time. Here she and I pose with Conroy, the SJPL cougar mascot. (I didn't even know there WAS a mascot!) I also told a nearby cop he could get in the pic with us, but then he got all bashful and said "that's okay!" Gosh darn it! ;) Now if only the firefighters from the fire station next to the library had shown up, I might've literally pulled one into the picture! (Yes, I've a thing for men in uniform)
I also ran into the San Jose District 9 City Councilmember Judy Chirco, whom I know both from my former job with a local newspaper group, and also from when she used to speak at the annual meeting of my townhouse complex's homeowners' association. She is a VERY outgoing and friendly person, although she might not look it in this picture! heh
I wanted to get a picture of the ribbon-cutting ceremony before we all went in for tours and refreshments, but I was too far away. However, I found a
great photo on the internet of some unknown guys using a gigantic golden scissors that resembles what we have in San Jose. *giggle* Anyhoo, later I was able to get this shot of the MADHOUSE the inside of the library looked like! Would you believe some folks were signing up for library cards in the midst of the festivities? LOL Anyhoo, I hardly got to look at the books, CDs, DVDs or internet cafe because it was so crowded -- as you can see!
Later, I ran into my neighbor walking the family dogs, Zoe (standing) and Krypto (sitting and showing his privates! teehee). I'd been wanting to photograph Krypto for a long time, because he looks so much like my friend Jenny's dog Jake (Jenny is also in the Bingo Belles). Krypto is part Labrador retriever, part Rottweiler and part pitbull, and Jake is half Lab and half pitbull, which might explain why they look so similar. :) Zoe is supposedly half German shepherd and half pitbull, but I think she has some Labrador in her as well! Anyhoo, I love how SMILEY the dogs look here!! They are both very sweet, silly and loveable! Zoe's not even an adult yet, even though she's full-size.
Here are Krypto (left) and Zoe (right) again, both smiling because they were very excited to go for a walk! (I think they secretly enjoyed having their pictures taken as well! *giggle*) I think Krypto looks sooo much like Jake here!
And, no journal entry involving animals would be complete without RATS, right? ;D So, here are two pix of my boys! First we have Blueberry, perched atop a chewable wooden "hide away" cabin and eating a treat puff! I was trying for a macro shot, but due to my closeness to Berry, I couldn't use the flash. Hence, even his slight movement was enough to blur him. But that's OK -- he's still uber-cute (as
justjesi would say!) heehee
Speaking of uber-cute, look at Jellybean in this flannel "cuddle cube"! He just LOVES hiding out and/or hanging out in these types of things! :) Sometimes he'll groom himself for a long time in there, and will get quite aggro if his brother tries to rout him out! heheh
