Love it.
The true testament of a villain's influence and potential for destruction can be found in the episodes in which they don't appear. And this one proved Mariah's worth. Not once did we see her but she was the true threat to the safety of the hostages and Luke inside Harlem's Paradise. Yes, Diamondback was the one causing the immediate chaos but Mariah was making deals to bring in the Judas. And, like the ADA said, it's only a matter of time before such a weapon ends up sold in the hands of the criminals Luke and the police are trying to bring down. I don't yet know the story for The Defenders but I imagine this will play a part so that's a nice setup.
Claire was officially called Night Nurse! It's one thing for all of the viewers to call her that but it wasn't official until now. If Rachel McAdams' character in Doctor Strange turns out to be another Night Nurse (there are 3) then I will have to start begging for a scene with the characters. If not, then I'll just hope for the others.
Claire really is a badass. She keeps her head, uses the opportunities when they present themselves, and manages to kick ass while being a healer. She's so amazing that I'm renewing my concern that Marvel will continue to have her as the link between the shows and then kill her to kick start The Defenders. I'd rather her be the one to call everyone together to face whatever will threaten the city but comic books like to have death be the great motivator for the various heroes and Marvel certainly isn't any different. LET CLAIRE LIVE!!!
One thing that struck me in this episode is that Diamondback is starting to unravel. Oh, he thinks he's in control, and escaping the club will reinforce this belief but he's making the kind of mistakes that a true boss wouldn't make. He's telling people his true story, letting his goons get arrested, and he lingered in the first place. Sloppy. On the other hand, Mariah got the hell out of there last episode when the shooting started and maneuvered her chess pieces offscreen and far away from the club. She's the one in control and Diamondback just doesn't see it yet. I'm looking forward to the Luke vs Diamondback showdown but I'm also pumped for the Mariah vs Diamondback one as well.
Also, Shades brings the funny "whatchoo talkinng bout, Willis?" Heeeeeeeeeee!
