Character Sheet
Name: Jeremy Well.
Approximate Age: Young child.
Gender Presentation: Male.
Height: Around 4' something.
Build: Small and tiny, quite thin when he used to be a lot rounder and rolly polly.
Hair: Sandy blonde. Rather curly and is very fine to the touch.
Eyes: Vivid green eyes. Exactly like his father's.
Dress Style: Fashionable when he's out, dressed in tailored coats and fitted suits complete with hats so he's kept warm and comfortable. But he often doesn't get to go out, however, and sticks to simpler clothes like shirts and overalls when at home. Always wears something long-sleeved to cover up all of his arms.
Distinguishing Features: His very pale and sickly appearance.
Notable Possessions: A pair of goggles that don't reflect at all. It happens to be a gift from one Nigel Overstreet when he learned Jeremy knew of the Correspondence and, er, didn't take too well to it.
Manner of Speaking: Soft and quiet with the typical RP accent. He can be loud and boisterous if he puts the effort into it but that would tuck him out fast.
General Attitude: Friendly and open when he isn't sleepy or languid which is most of the time.
General Impression: A subject of pity and petting from most strangers when they first meet him because goodness! Look at this poor lad and his pallid complexion and scowl on his face. Looks under the weather, doesn't he?
Full Name: Jeremy Carter Augustus Well
Aliases: The Ailing Heir. Jerry. Raphael. Kiddo. Italics indicate aliases no longer in use.
Birthday: October 31.
Chiropteromantic Sign: The Rose.
Age: 7.
Additional Physical Description: Jeremy takes more after his father than his mother when it comes to his looks but the resemblance is there with his pretty smiles and his slender hands. He's a little on the pale side, with no colors to his cheeks and seems to sport perpetual dark circles under his eyes. Prone to shivering no matter the weather.
Distinguishing Features: Correspondence symbols marked into his inner forearms. They're thankfully fading away due to lack of using his Weaving.
Manner of Movement: ...Walks? Jeremy doesn't really care if he's graceful or not. Long as he gets to walk he's happy. So he's all movement with no grace, more of speed and certainty than anything else.
Physical Health: Poor. He's been ill for a long time and isn't showing signs of recovering anytime soon. Prone to sleepiness and terrible coughing fits. Only able to leave the house out of sheer stubbornness from his side, refusing to stay coped up in the residence for so long.
Mental Health: Has nightmares now and then. While the nightmares are infrequent, they can be severe and terrifying enough that Andrea is forced to give him laudanum so he can sleep through the night. But, compared to his parents, he's a normal child.
Positive Traits: Sweet as a lamb and surprisingly patient for a little boy. Most of all he's a creative youth, his skills improving over the years thanks to his parents' encouragement. He's loyal to his friends and family and will do what he can to help them.
Negative Traits: Being pampered and coddled by his parents have led to some negative traits. Lazy when not motivated in things he likes and can become temperamental when his sickness is brought up and can be a sulky little boy when not given his way. He also has no issue with holding back the truth if it might get him into trouble.
Quirks & Habits: Gestures when he can. Hates touching anything amber or brass related. Fiddles with a whistle he carries on his person.
Vices: Sweets! Also has distressingly shown a dependency on laudanum when it comes to sleeping.
Likes: Friendly people, music, art, books, anything related to the Surface.
Dislikes: Bullies, the Great Game, Weaving, people making fun of him for his 'bastard' state, especially that isn't true anymore!, or mocking his mom.
Getting Things Done
Allies & Associates: The Circle.
Pets: Two of them. (Secretly three but shhh!)
He has Sam the Maverick Bloodhound his father gave him. Kind of stuffy and a bit of a killjoy due to Jamieson's instructions of keeping him safe at all costs but he's alright. Does his best to keep him safe and is willing to tolerate Jeremy hugging him like a stuffed bear at night when he gets scared.
Auntie Eliza only lent him Dublin the Working Rat since he wanted some more company besides the household staff. A little pedantic but he too means well. Excellent help when he needs to cheat on his math work and Sam is hovering nearby.
Don't tell his parents but he smuggled a Haunted-Looking dog in their house, a dirty pup he dubbed Courage after seeing the poor animal getting bullied by some cats. Cue him haggling and begging Ms Hoover in shooing the cats away so they can take him home. Neither parent knows about this development yet.
Connections:
Highest Connection: Criminals through his mother. They know him quite well as the little boy of Andrea and Flaming Jamie and most of them are wise enough to never ever try and touch a hair on his head unless they want the wrath of both his parents brought down on them. He also has some protection in the form of the Cheery Man taking a shine to him. Not that he knows the last part, his mother making it a point to keep her more less than honest past from touching him.
Second highest connection: Constables through his father. The Chief Constable is someone he knows personally thanks to the man being invited to the house a lot and the adult seems to like him. Whenever he's in station with father, he always has a constable with him who is more than happy to entertain the boy while he's stuck there.
Lowest Connection: Society, funny enough. They really don't like his existence since he's technically illegitimate and a sore topic for his Great Uncle Samuel Well, who makes a great deal of noise about how ashamed and unhappy he is with his nephew for living with his mistress and their bastard child in public. Since he's a person of considerable influence and means, people take cues from him and don't like Jeremy and Andrea in return.
Enemies: Some members of the Weekend family after the Lady Thursday debacle that he had a personal(!) hand in. Through his parents there are some factions of the Great Game and some bolder criminals keeping an eye on him.
Ambition: None really?
Other Goals: To one day travel the Surface! Never mind that he had died in the past and thus can't leave London. One way or another he's going to leave and really see the sunshine for himself.
Finance: Okay? His parents are the ones who worry about the pills and the rent but Jeremy knows for certain they're very well-off. He can tell that much with the allowance they give him despite all of them knowing he won't get a lot of chances to spend it since he's stuck in the house all day.
Residence: Stays in the Well Residence with the Lodgings post found in his father's journal
here.
Notable Possessions: Besides the pair of goggles, he has his very
own pearl necklace that happens to be a gift his parents gave to him two years ago. He wears it on himself at all times. Also in his possession a tiny jewelled reliquary that a Vicar of the church he attends gave to him out of pity. The man claims that it contains the bones of St. Catherine of Bologna and if he prays to it it will protect him. Jeremy frankly finds it gross and lets his parents keep it. A book for learning math that he got through his Godfather, Gabriel Flynn, in the past. An ornate little whistle he keeps in his pockets all the time, though he refuses to explain where he got it if asked. Finally, his most favorite gift, is a little mechanical bird set inside a glided cage that sings the prettiest tunes when wound up.
Favoured Weapon: Adults.
Combat Style: Hide behind his parents/Rupert/Auntie Eliza/anyone bigger than him.
Questions of Some Importance
Have you got a...
Boat? None.
Club? None. Knows about the Dilmun club but of course he isn't a member for that.
Affiliation? Gang of Hoodlums through his mother.
Faction? None? Through his parents he has the Great Game and the Constables but, um, he has a soft spot for Urchins and they seem to like him if that counts?
Background
A Brief History of Life in London: Son of Jamieson Well and Andrea Weaver, he was literally torn away from them at his early birth due to a talent he happened to have which is commonly known as Weaving. He was raised by participants in the Great Game when they were trying to figure out how his talents worked, often subjected to medical procedures he really doesn't want to think about to this day. It was through the efforts of his family, his family's friends and some other beings that he was reunited with his parents.
These days he's a happy boy. Doted on by his parents and with coddling 'aunts' and 'uncles' at the ready, Jeremy is living an alright life -- It's just he isn't faring too well and hasn't for a while. He's fallen ill to some illness he can't quite shake off, changing the lively and curious boy to a sleepy and still curious boy who needs to stay in the house a lot. He loathes being cooped up in bed and makes sure everyone around him knows that.
Religion: Anglican. He's picked up after his mother's attitude in concern of this and doesn't really have much of an interest in it.
Occupation: Student.
Hobbies & Interests: Anything related to visual arts since that keeps him occupied in the house. Sketching, painting, drawing and a bit of amateur clay sculpting. He likes reading stories and poems and plays or he likes being read stories and poems and plays by other people.
Talents: Can be sneaky when he wants to be! Has a talent for tying knots and picking locks and is an observant little boy, able to pick out a good hiding place if one is needed in a pinch. Talented in terms of the arts, excellent sketcher for his age and has a lovely voice. He also has the ability to Weave, pulling hidden information out of encoded messages through the use of the Correspondence. His parents discourage him in using the last one, however, since it would be taxing his already terrible health.
Un-Talents: Cannot be trusted to do computations even if one's life depends on it to the confusion of his mathematically-inclined parents. Anything involving physical activity is just a bad idea for him to do. Seems to have inherited his father's inability to dance and is graceful as a Clay Man in ballerina slippers when asked to do a simple number. Hates dealing with anything related to society since its so tedious and boring.
Education: Has been taught by an army of tutors his entire life and it doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon. His current one is the Stringent Educator.
Languages: He knows of Correspondence.
Family:
scarredweaver and
constablewell are his mother and father, respectively, and he has family here in the Neath. He doesn't really like them since they're so rude to him and mother.
The Relationship Stuff
Relationship Status: Child.
Sexual Orientation: Child.
Anything Else?: Is more inclined to trust women than men when meeting people for the first time. This is thanks to being under Mr Rat's terror, Mr Monday's incompetence and Mr Spider's coolness -- nice as he was! -- in that order.
How does your character feel about...
Sentient Nonhumans? He finds the Rubbery Men very creepy and uncomfortable to be around with their sounds and looks but keeps it to himself most days. The rats and cats, on the other hands, are animals he adores since at least he can talk to them while understanding what they're telling him in return.
What about Tomb-Colonists? He feels bad for them because they seems so grumpy most of the time.
Devils and Hell? Finds them charming! If a little creepy. But the devils and the devilesses he met in the past were very kind to him.
The Masters? Unsure of how to feel about them. They... They're there? He finds them strange but, then again, he lives in London of all places so that isn't new. They somehow just stand out more with their behavior. He admits he finds his parents' hatred for them a little puzzling, having never learned what exactly happened that caused them to be separated with each other in the past.
The Bazaar? Like the Masters of the Bazaar. Sometimes he likes to look at because the phrases are fascinating for him to read.
Social Issues? (sexism/racism/classism.....) He never really noticed it before since he's been brought up here his entire life. Knows how rude and nasty people are to his mother and him but doesn't really get why. Isn't the biggest fan of the Rubbery Men.
Religion? Doesn't really have much of an interest for it since he hates waking up early to go for Sunday Mass. Likes the Very Wordy Vicar his parents know however. The Bishop is another story.
Temperance? What's that? He knows about the Temperance tarot card but he has a feeling that this doesn't address the matter.
