See
this post for initial letter to Bookins. I have taken the liberty of bolding the part of the response that makes my soul cry.
Hi Jaclyn, thank you for getting in touch with your thoughtful comments. I am very happy to hear we have helped to expand your summer reading options.
I fixed the classifications as you suggested, for all the books.
I'll give you a bit more detail on why they were classified incorrectly, and also why the "Left Behind" books were featured.
The categories for each book in our database come from the publishers themselves. So, while you and I might feel "Left Behind" is not science, it seems the publishers of those books do. Our database has over 5 million books, so it is hard for us to check each category for each book. That said, when members alert us to an issue, we can easily fix the problem.
I added a note to our development list to provide a "mis-categorized" link for each book, so we can more easily respond to member requests to change categories.
Regarding our featured section, these selections are created based on a number of algorithms that resort our book inventory every 1/2 hour. The intent is to bring popular & readily available books to the forefront. As it turns out, some of these "Left Behind" books are in fact popular, and we do have a good number in our system, so they occasionally get featured.
Thanks again for getting in touch, and especially for letting us know we have helped expand your reading options, that really makes my day!
Best regards, Mitchell
