Five Things for a Wet Sunday Morning

Exercise: A friend of mine who is a dedicated runner says that she runs in the rain because she has to run, and that rain shouldn't stop me from getting out to run, either. We won't, after all, melt. This last point is most assuredly true. It does not, however, make a compelling argument for me to don my workout clothes and go get drenched. I need ( Read more... )

I hated running in the rain, and I suck at going to the gym. I stopped buying gym memberships because I would buy them, and then not go anyway. Having a dog that must be walked is a Good Thing for us because, well, the dog must be walked. Not an option for you, I know. However, I highly recommend free weights, they are one of the few things that have worked for me and they are good exercise. And, I can do them at home.

You can always walk to Freemont and up to Queen Anne to get out of the house, just a thought, and have a reward of coffee or library or something completely inexpensive. Just to go out. Or maybe you and Mark (who also needs to get out of the house) could have a writing date (and now I feel like a parent making play dates for their kids -- can you bring Harry over so he and Monica can play together? Aarrgh. Look what maternity did to me?)

Fwiw, we are very excited about having found Grocery Outlet yesterday and saving a ton of money on food. Things we would have gotten anyway for significantly cheaper. It was a meaningful experience. We used to go to them all the time in Portland, and had completely forgotten. It was great. You won't get some of the same things I will (vienna sausages for 50 cents, two for a buck!) but they had salad greens and milk and eggs and whatnot, all a third to half of big grocery store prices. And cheese.
