. . . and what have you done with
scarlettina?
I ask because today I got up, met some of my Weight Watchers pals and our leader, and we completed the Seattle Turkey Trot 5K (5K=3.2 miles). I did it in 45 minutes, which is a personal best for me. This weekend is the Seattle Marathon, and while I will most assuredly not be running that race, I really want to go to the related expo, because they'll have technical clothes and gear for sale that today's expedition made clear that I really need: appropriate gloves, hats, better running socks, and a jacket--because running in the cold today taught me lessons about how inadequately prepared I was. I will say, though: all things considered I wasn't that inadequately prepared. I was warm enough, but I missed having a hat and gloves, and my feet missed having the right kind of protection. One of the women I ran with gave me gloves, which made a huge difference.
Anyway, I completed the race, received an adorable tee shirt, and on Tuesday, will receive an accomplishment charm at my Weight Watchers meeting. And I set a personal record, which I now want to improve on.
In the meanwhile, the sweet potatoes are in the oven, the apples have been prepared, and as soon as I can, I'm going to get those potatoes, prepared them, put it all in a casserole and bake!

Quickly, I wanted to acknowledge the day. It's Thanksgiving, and I have a lot to be thankful for. I'm thankful for my most awesome brother, his beautiful bride, and my new niece. I'm thankful for my enormous circle of beloved friends--I am blessed with wonderful people in my life. I'm thankful for my Sophie-cat. I'm thankful for the parents who gave me the tools to create the life I have, I'm thankful for my lovely home, and for the brains and education to have made everything I have possible. And I'm thankful for my health, which has improved enormously this year.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
