WorldCon Planning

Okay, this week I want to nail down my final travel plans for the Reno WorldCon. I'm wondering who's going, and who might be up to a little touristing either right before, during, or after the convention. There are a few things I'd really like to do while I'm there, and they would be more fun with company than by myself. I suspect I won't be able to do them all but I'd like to try to squeeze at least a couple of things in. Here are some of the options I've been investigating:

The Nevada Museum of Art is running an exhibit called To Live Forever: Egyptian Treasure from the Brooklyn Museum that I'd love to see. It's a straight drive or walk, 2.5 miles from the convention center. It also looks like the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center is showing a related show that might be fun. See the above-linked page for information.

A wild horse photography day trip and tour, which would be for a maximum of three people. It's not a cheap excursion but it could be just awesome.

I was thinking about a day trip to Virginia City. Seems like a crime to be so close and yet not get a taste of the Old West.

I'd love to go hiking somewhere at some point. There are certainly plenty of options in the area.

I'm willing to organize rental cars, tickets, and/or tour reservations if they're needed (I can't treat anyone but I can plan and manage). I just want company.

Anybody interested? Respond here or email me, let me know what your current plans are and how we might work around or with them, and let's see if we can make a plan. I'd like to get this nailed down this week. Yay!
