I hate my own stupid high standards. I just got my law assignment result and it wasn't a first. It was three marks off so all is not lost but I know I'll be so disappointed with myself if I don't have a good base (eg a first grade!) for next year. I also think it would be fairly crap going to get a lower aggregate mark than last year (75), what ( Read more... )

I know that feeling, time organisation is as hard as the work itself and it's something I still haven't mastered!

I'm sure you've already got all the key people in but I've got a couple of ideas although I don't know if they'll be relevant, but will probably be good as aspects of a broad lit review... My friend Mags lent me a really good book on body dysmorphia a few years ago, unfortunately I can't remember the author's name but I have just sent her a text to ask! The other thing would be to look at the history of anorexia, there are some really interesting articles on fasting in tne 19th century in the 'Body and Society' journal (you can probably get it electronically through your Uni library pages), it means trawling through abstracts but there's some excellent stuff in there. I've done a lot of reading on body modification too and there is a fair bit in this field on EDs as a form of body mod, just do a search for body modification. I'll have a look through my lit review and let you know if there's anything in there you might find useful too :)

Bless you for going to such effort - thanks! I'll definitely try Body and Society, it might give me a bit of a different angle. If you do look through your lit review, there's no rush, I've got a law exam on Monday afternoon so I've abandoned working on this until Monday evening so I can give revision my full attention. Well, my full attention shared with LJ it seems ;)

It's the best journal ever!! There are so many amazing articles in there (yes I know I'm a nerd).. I'll have a look through my lit review for you on Monday.

I'm sure the PhD can withstand a little break for some wine drinking :D hopefully see you soon! Enjoy Nightmare if you're going and say hi to people from me :)

I'll have to try hard not to get distracted then ;) Often, when I'm in the backdated journal section of the library - it's tucked away and quiet and feels as a proper library should - I get distracted by all sorts of interesting things. It's funny how it only happens when I urgently need to get on with things.

I think drinking wine will actually help your PhD, I need some more time to come up with a reason why. We can discuss it over the wine! :P

I've stayed in tonight to revise but it's been quite a pleasant evening and I had a lovely walk with Lulu - rock and roll! I hope you enjoy celebrating, I will be there in spirit but tucked up in bed in person.
