Eight Sixteenths

At the end of today, I would have completed 8 weeks of my 16 week NSERC term. In other words, my stay here in Vancouver is essentially halfway done.

Since I'm at work, I'll reflect on the work portion. It's getting to the point where it's beginning to hit me: "You've barely done anything yet! You haven't learned much, you haven't done any experiments (besides learning how to do them)! You better get this project going or you'll never finish and publish results!" I'm not blaming myself, I know that my boss's attitude has caused things to move super slow, but at the same time I've been riding the (I wouldn't call it a wave, more like ripples), and haven't been pushing him for more. Perhaps on Monday I should approach him with all that is done and all that still needs to be done and remind him I'm only here for 8 more weeks. Yes...perhaps.

On a different note, as I totally forgot to journal about this, I finished the fractal booky (a month ago?). I have to say, it was absolutely mind-blowing all the way through! I think absolutely everyone in science or maths, and EVERYONE interested in philosophy of any sort should become familiar with the fascinating concepts presented. They aren't just beautiful (though they are incredibly beautiful) but they have amazing implications and applications. Seeing as no one reads my journal, I'm gonna try and catch some attention:

Everyone, read this!!
(Borrow it from me, else you have to buy it).

Weekend!

chaos, fractals, nserc, science, mind expansion, work, math
