Holy money balls my fingers hurt...
I do not recommend stringing an SD with no prior experience and very little time to do it in. Oh My GOD. The instructions were little help, being that they're in friggin' Japanese. That would have been ok if I could find a damn tut or FAQ on stringing MSDs, or even SDs in general. But there is NOTHING. I was frantically searching for something since we had an unplanned guest coming over just an hour and a half after Toby (my MSD Mika) got here. So I had to put her together quickly, but even then I hadn't finished her until our guest had been here for at least an hour. God my fingers hurt, I fuckin' hate elastic and wire...
But what really got me was how the arms were strung. I thought the string for the arms went straight up into the head like the elastic for the legs. But no, they are looped through the arms and tied in the shoulder. I had never even heard of that until I looked at the instructions. I mean, DAMN. People on DoA bitch and moan about people asking "Noobie questions" over and over and over. Well, if you never give them a chance to ask then how are the rest of us noobs gonna know? And for the record I did not find ONE post about how to string an MSD, not ONE. It's not in the god damned FAQ either so don't even reference me to it 'cause I looked through it 4 times. Makes me wanna kill people...
But besides that... I LOVE her! It took me by surprise how much I love her. As soon as I saw her head while opening the box I was like "OMG SQUEE!!!!". It was nothing like when I got Aurelie. Aurelie has pretty much no personality, but Toby, her personality just jumped right out at me as soon as I got her all strung. And her name just popped into my head. I had no idea what I was gonna name her but when I looked at her I thought "Toby". So therefor...she is Toby.
I wanted to coat her in MSC before I strung her, but like I said, we had a guest and very little time to put her together. But now that she's all together I dunno if I'm willing to take her apart to coat her. Stringing is a BITCH. She does attract marks easily, so I may just coat her while she's all strung 'cause I'm so scared she's gonna stain. I'd probably only take her head off since I have to paint her anyway. Oh god, I really hope I don't fuck up on painting her, her features are really tiny. But damn...I really love her, I didn't think I would but I do. And her wig is so SHINY! Pretty Shiny! ^____^
I'll post the pics soon, I don't have many of the box being opened. I completely forgot about the cat in the box thing, what with the guest coming over and having to do a super fast clean of the house. But I'll get a lot before I paint her, and then more after I paint her.
