Ok, I'm actually gonna do it...

I'm buying her.

Yeah, that's right, I'm gonna buy her. I'm gonna get her from Doll Hobby as a kit.

If there are any doll people that read my LJ and know my taste in SDs (I know there are one or two) you're probably thinking "...WTF, Wendy...getting a Mika? O_O An MSD Mika?! WTF?!" Yeah, I know, I was never really into MSDs, at least not Volks MSDs, and for a while I've had my sights set on Kun (and I still do). And I was never really all that fond of the Volks Mini body, and I'm still not. But you know...they're sort of growing on me. I like her face, it's cute and compared to the other MSDs Volks has...a better sculpt. I really dislike the Nasya/Myu sculpts, and don't even get me started on the faerie sculpts...

But mainly, I was thinking about the size of SDs. It's sort of awkward with them being that big, I find it hard to really "play" with an SD/SD13 sized doll. Like my DD, I love her but...due to her size, it's kind of awkward to do much with her. Also her hand is broken and I'm scared shitless that she's gonna keep breaking, but that's beside the point. Point is, a mini would seem a lot easier to carry around (yes...I'm going to carry her around -_-) and to "play" with. I remember playing with someone's MSD at the first SDC in Austin, and though her body was fairly childlike, I liked her size. Though, even more so I surprisingly loved the CH Petites, but...eh, not a big fan of CH themselves. So, I suppose I'd like a Volks Tenshi, but...their sculpts aren't all that great either (Well, the ones that they released at the Dolpas at least, I liked the first Tenshi but I don't think you can buy her), nor would I be able to get my hands on one for a while what with them being limited.

Now, I'd love to have an SDC, but they're limited and expensive to boot. I could almost buy an SD13 with what the SDCs cost. So, unless Volks releases a standard SDC for cheaper in the next day and a half...I don't think the SDC thing is going to happen very soon, at least not with me being out of work (BTW, I quit my job). Hell, even working I wouldn't make enough for an SDC. Well, I would technically, but the timing of them being released and what with needing to save for a car soon...yeah, not happening.

But yeah, I've always sort of liked Mika (not so much Ken, which is weird since it's the same head mold. I don't like the head mold as a boy maybe...?), and yes...it 's cheaper to get an MSD. Yeah, I know, I've heard the whole "You should get an SD because you like them, not for their price." about a billion times. SDs are friggin' expensive, ok? Unless you're really picky about what SDs you like and have enough money to buy one guilt free, then you might as well get a "cheaper" one if you're short on money. I mean, who would actually get an SD they really didn't like because they were the cheapest? These aren't like Barbie's, people. If SD collecting worked like that there would, for one, be a lot more second hand SDs on the market, and the SD companies would probably lower the prices of dolls if no one was buying the nicer, more expensive SDs. So it's not like I don't like Mika, I do like her. Yes, there are other SDs I'd prefer (like Kun) but as I said before...it's a matter of size, and I'm really short on money. If I was really set on Kun I would save for her, but I'm not really that set on her. I've only seen a select few that made me want her, and those were with really damn good face ups.

I guess another thing would be, why Volks? Yeah, some other companies have better MSDs, like DOD. But I'm sort of "noble" to Volks. It's not really a label issue, I just feel more...attatched to that company, and overall they are my favorite sculpts. I was interested in DOD for a while, but after seeing how people with DODs dress and portray their dolls, it's sort of a turn off. Not saying that people shouldn't do as they please with their dolls, I just don't like the whole goth/punk fad that a lot of people dress their dolls in. Also, is it just me or are the majority of "gay dolls" DOD Yens? Hmm, but anyway...

So yeah, I do like Mika quite a bit. I also like the idea of putting her together myself. Sorta like if I put her together with my own hands, she really is "my" doll. As soon as my deposit is cleared (or whatever the term is) I'm ordering Mika. I just hope to GOD she's still in stock by the time the deposit comes through...

So...

SQUEE! OMFG! I'm getting Mika! OMFGWTFBBQ! I'm getting a Super Dollfie! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
God I am so pathetic...
