[Sirius, restless and unable to sleep much since his return from Azkaban, has taken to roaming the Barge at odd hours in dog form. Usually, he goes to the deck or the CES, but lately the deck creeps him out in both forms. Today, he's just wandering, and when he comes across Wanda in a random corridor, he comes to a halt and tilts his dog head slightly to one side.]
[Wanda is eyeing the cabin doors.] Maybe I should start listening at them to see if he's in there. [There has to be a way to get at the little worm. There has to be a way.]
[She looks up and sees the dog, and sighs quietly, rasping] Hi.
Sirius immediately shifts into human form. Knowing it's a dumb question, because one only needs to take half a look into her eyes, and half a look at her sparking hands, he asks it anyway. "Are you alright?"
Bloody Crane. He was exactly the kind of bigoted muggle moron that gave purebloods like his family all the fuel they needed to go on their blood purity rampages. "Crane is an idiot," he replied matter-of-factly. "And if you hex him into next week, you're only going to prove him right."
"I'm not proving him right by beating him up. He's accusing us of shit we're not doing and trying to get us all thrown in Zero. If I'm going to get thrown in Zero...again...it's not gonna be for nothing this time.
"I haven't slept for three days. I can barely make myself eat or do anything since I was kidnapped, and my Warden is fucking useless. The only way I can make it stop is by utterly kicking the ass of everyone who tries to bully me, so people will stop trying."
"Wanda." Sirius frowned. "When were you kidnapped?" He had been rather oblivious to the Barge happenings as of late, and then he was gone. He couldn't believe that someone had kidnapped Wanda of all people. Why would someone want to hurt her?
"No one is going to throw every magic user in zero because of one paranoid wanker's ramblings. There would be a bloody revolt. It's obviously the Admiral who is doing this. He's a nutter and he likes to toy with people." His frown deepened as he studied Wanda. This was a far cry from the girl who had made him sandwiches, the girl who had somehow managed to keep it together even when Sveta's curse made her power backfire all around her. "Crane's expecting it right now, yeah? He's looking for a fight. I know you can kick his arse, and he probably deserves it. But why give it to him when he wants it? You should rest first. I have an extra bed and wards on my room if you don't feel safe in your own."
"A few weeks ago. It was Franklin. And you know what? The Admiral graduated him before he could be punished for what he did to me." A broken-looking smile. "That's Barge justice for you. Somehow shedding a few guilty tears afterward absolved him."
She stared at him as he tried to persuade her. Logically she knew he was right. But she wasn't very logical right now.
"Franklin left me wanting to die and he got to go home. Iago's a complete dirtbag and now he's a Warden." She walked in a tight circle, arms around herself. "Crane gets to talk like a damn Friends of Humanity member without any Wardens reining him in, and me? I get a puppy and a pat on the head and maybe an apology or two. I can't take anymore. I want real justice."
Franklin kidnapped Wanda and graduated. Iago, who had attempted to be a massive trolling wanker to him after Persephone graduated, was now a Warden. "None of what you've just said is fair," he admitted, because he wasn't going to pretend otherwise. "Franklin should have been punished, the Admiral is obviously deranged, and if any of us magical folks talked about muggles the way they talk about us, we'd be bloody punished." He doesn't know if it will help or hurt to say it, but he doesn't want Wanda to feel like she's alone. "The Admiral sent me back to Azkaban for six months. That's where I came from in the first place. Remember how buggered I was? He sent me back there for no reason. I honestly think he doesn't want certain inmates to graduate. I don't know the rhyme or reason. Maybe it's power or magic or something. Maybe there's some purpose served we don't know about
( ... )
"Maybe the lesson here is that if we can survive this place, we can survive anything. I don't know. It isn't fair. What's happened to you isn't fair, and what's happened to me isn't fair. The world isn't fair. My life off the Barge is far from fair." He felt so bad for what she had gone through, and he wished he could ask the Admiral why he would graduate someone immediately after the bloke kidnapped someone. Surely even the Admiral had to know that would have repercussions for the person who had been kidnapped
( ... )
"I don't expect life to be fair. But this is beyond unfair and straight into a farce. I get this done to me, and I'm expected to just go on, keep my appointments and climb back into my box of being a good, well-behaved, nearly powerless little victim. I don't want to be that person anymore. She got me hurt. No one takes her seriously
( ... )
"You should be able to defend yourself. My last Warden limited my powers, to an extent, but he had it so I could defend myself if necessary. That way I wasn't off picking fights, but if someone came at me, they'd regret it." He frowned. He didn't think she was far off when she saw the Admiral was insane. How could he graduate someone who had done this?
"I don't pretend to understand how this place works." If it even did work. "It isn't right that you can't defend yourself. You were born with powers. That's who you are. If your Warden feels they should be limited, I suppose that's his prerogative, but you should never be bloody defenseless." It was doing far more harm than good. "Let's go magic the shit out of your room."
She settled down some as he spoke, and nodded finally. "I am going to try to figure out a compromise. Something. I do like Tony, I just so don't agree with him on this decision."
She pushed away from the wall, nodding. "Yeah. And Sirius...thanks."
"He has to understand that you want to be able to defend yourself. He may not want you to have full use of your powers, but that's a special situation. No one wants to be bloody kidnapped, especially when you could have avoided it if you had your powers."
He smiled and gestured for her to lead the way. "Anytime, Wanda. There's no need to thank me."

Maybe I'll just try to sleep again, sort this crap out more in the morning. You're right about that.
[When they got near her door it rattled in its frame.]
