Fic: Witness (One-shot)

”Honestly princess, how many times do I have to fit in your small-sized brain that I wasn’t going out with that woman!” a little Osaka man yelled.
“Well I’m sure you’re going to fit in my brain in the first place considering how small you really are!” a feminine-looking guy shot back.
“Don’t yell something back at me when you know that you’re small yourself!”
“But I’m heck taller than you!”
“Yeah, like what? A centimeter taller?” the Osaka man fumed.
And the fight continued on with a little girl with two ponytails staring right back at them and seemingly already used to the situation that’s happening. Not only the little girl was present, but the bands of either person was there too witnessing everything.

My name is Ria Nishikido and I’m 4 years old. I’ve always wondered where I got my brown hair that is always tied up in ponytails but when I ask Uncle Yamapi about it, he just tells me that it’s magic. But Uncle Jin tells me that’s because my mommy and daddy used to have brown hair. I’m not really sure if I’m going to believe that right now because mommy has brown with some red colors on his hair.
Mommy? My mommy’s name is Ueda Tatsuya. Everyone encouraged me to call him Mommy even though he’s really a guy. Now I’m not sure at that because Daddy says that Mommy’s really a girl. I was born from Mommy’s tummy and everybody was excited because of it especially Daddy.
My daddy’s name is Ryo Nishikido. I’m always happy that he’s here because he always tells me stories about his happy times with his friends. Sometimes I ask him to tell me stories about Mommy and him but whenever I ask that question, he just brushes it away and greets me good night. I know why he does that though, because when I asked him to tell me stories about Mommy before, he never stopped talking until he found I was already asleep.
Mommy and Daddy are always fighting in everybody’s eyes.
But when there are times that they think no one’s looking, they can be really sweet to each other and I’ve never seen them so happy before.

Ryo came inside their apartment past 2 AM and smiled as he saw his lover all over the couch sleeping. He always assured Ueda that he doesn’t have to wait for him to get home but the latter wasn’t convinced by that and still waited for Ryo to come home. Deep inside, Ryo was really happy because he always knew that his boyfriend/husband/wife would really be sweet sometimes.
You see that? Daddy’s carrying my sound-asleep Mommy back to their room so they could both sleep well.
Ria smiled widely when she peeked through the little space of her door.
But I know that Daddy’s not like that whenever his or Mommy’s friends are around. He always wakes Mommy up to yell at him to go to sleep in a bed properly.
But when he thinks that no one’s looking, Daddy’s going to be really sweet and considerate to Mommy.

Ueda knows that Ryo has to go back and forth to Tokyo and Osaka so he could keep up with both of his bands. In other people’s eyes, Ueda wouldn’t care less if Ryo would even have 3 or 4 bands more. But when he thinks that no one’s looking, he would be really worried and lonely and is one of the reasons why he always wanted to wait for his husband.
“Mommy, where’s Daddy?” Ria asked one day when her mother was playing with her in the living room.
Ueda just smiled sadly at his daughter and said, “Daddy’s going to be here soon so don’t you worry, okay?” and Ria nodded happily.
I’m not really sure who is Mommy reassuring. Is it me or himself? But I’m happy because it just shows how Mommy misses Daddy soo much but he just won’t make it obvious for others.
It was already past noon when Ryo came back but with his band mates from NEWS trailing behind him. Ueda wasn’t surprised really, in fact, he was somehow happy that those guys could visit them once in awhile. He let them all in in their big spacey apartment and made them make themselves comfortable.
“You’re not taking care of yourself again, aren’t you?” Ueda glared at Ryo.
“Don’t say that! I’m already tired and still didn’t have sleep since last night so don’t make my day any worse!” Ryo spat back.
Yamapi, Tegoshi and Massu were playing restlessly with little Ria while the others were staring at the not-so-surprising fighting couple.
Ueda just fumed and went to the kitchen to make lunch for the others because he was sure that those guys still haven’t eaten lunch and are very hungry. After the fight was over, the other members walked into the living room and tried to watch some TV and relaxed for awhile just as they were commanded from the princess.
It always seem that the fight’s real, ne?
But as I look back at Mommy in the kitchen, I saw Daddy quietly walking into the kitchen and kissed my Mommy on the cheeks after making sure that no one from his band was looking.
I smiled sheepishly and went back to laughing and playing with Uncle Yamapi, Auntie Tegoshi and Uncle Massu.
Ryo walked behind Ueda and surprised him by hugging him on the waist. The latter was indeed surprised because he managed to drop the knife he was currently using.
“Oh Ryo,” Ueda turned and smiled. Ryo then looked at his band mates first to see if anyone was looking and kissed his lover on the cheeks and then on his lips. “I missed you the past 10 or so hours,” He said and lovingly looked into Ueda’s brown eyes.
It was Ueda’s turn to smile and gave a peck on Ryo’s lips. “I missed you too, you know. Even Ria asked me where you are awhile ago,” He said and wrapped his arms around Ryo’s neck.
“Oh really?” Ryo whispered as he nuzzled his nose along Ueda’s neck and collarbone. The latter gave out a low and shy moan as a result and Ryo smirked at that. “Just correcting from awhile ago Princess, I’m actually happy to see you both again because I know you always make my day better than anything else,”
And the two lip-locked for the time being until the older one resumed at the task at hand.

There are times when Mommy and Daddy still fight when no one was really looking. There was a time when I wanted to go in their bedroom and sleep beside them but when I heard Daddy shout something at my Mommy, I started getting scared. I was scared because my Daddy could really be angry sometimes and scared because I could picture how Mommy could be hurt and crying because of Daddy.
When I heard the fighting stopped, I opened their door slowly and gently and looked inside. I smiled happily because I saw Daddy suddenly embrace Mommy and apologize while Mommy just hugs my Daddy and cry.
I know my Daddy’s apology was sincere because Uncle Yamapi and Uncle Jin told me before that Daddy doesn’t really apologize to someone even if he knows it was his fault. But when it comes to Mommy, Daddy always finds time to apologize and Mommy forgives him every time he does so.
Ryo guided both of them to their king-sized bed and instantly wrapped an arm around Ueda’s waist and held him closer.
“I’m really sorry, I didn’t mean to blow up on you, sweetheart,” Ryo said softly as he rubbed Ueda’s back up and down. The latter buried his head into the other’s shoulders and just nodded and continued sobbing softly.
Ryo kept on apologizing and comforting the other until he was sure that Ueda finally stopped and forgave him completely. When Ueda looked back up at him with a smile, he felt himself smile a smile that was only reserved for his lover. He brushed the remains of Ueda’s tears from the other’s cheeks and gave him a small kiss. They weren’t aware that their little girl was their always ready to witness their love.

Ryo came home drunk one night because of a celebration for the promotion of his band’s new single. Normally in other people’s eyes, Ueda would just yell at Ryo again for being so careless while the drunken man would just shrug everything off and laugh at Ueda and then collapse right in front of him.
But this time it was different, it was still 8 PM so Ueda and Ria were still up watching late-night cartoons. They were surprised when the door suddenly opened violently and Ryo came in drunk and not really himself. Ueda rushed to his husband’s side and helped him up to their bedroom and onto their bed. Ria, on the other hand, followed them quietly and tried to help if she can.
When I saw Mommy helping Daddy into their bedroom, I was really happy and hugged my teddy bear tightly around my chest. Because I’ve always known that even though Mommy hates it when Daddy’s drunk, he would still take care of him and help him to go to bed properly. And Daddy is always in a good mood the next day because he knew that Mommy took care of him.
Inside the bedroom of the couple, Ueda helped Ryo take off his clothes and wiped his body with a damp towel. After that, he changed his clothes and covered the blanket all over him. He gave Ryo one final good night kiss and went out of the room to get Ria.
He was not really surprised when he opened the door and found their daughter there standing with her big brown eyes staring up back at him. He chuckled and carried Ria to her bedroom and helped her go to bed.
“Is Daddy going to be all right?” Ria asked while Ueda covered her small body with her blanket. Ueda nodded and said, “He is. Your Daddy’s a strong man and he’s not going to be all sick,” He chuckled right after that. He then kissed their daughter’s forehead and bid her good night.

But the real proof that Daddy and Mommy really love each other was what I saw on TV.
The new NEWS and KAT-TUN DVD was already out and everybody was watching it on Ryo and Ueda’s place for some unknown reason. Everybody was excited of watching it and laughed at the parts where someone or many screwed up at their part. When it came close to an end, many cheered for Ryo and Ueda because of something they dared to have done in public. The Akame scenes were obvious and expected but others still teased them about it.
True enough, what Ryo did was very daring. I guess he got so excited and hyper than when it was time that they all bowed down as an ending for the concert, he just suddenly ran up to KAT-TUN’s side of the stage, pulled Ueda and kissed and hugged him in front of the whole audience, cast and crew!
Ueda never anticipated that so he just gave in the moment causing many to cheer and applaud for them. Although they were surprised that it was shown in the DVD, they were at least happy that the Ryoda pair managed to do something romantic and cheesy in public.
Because of this, Ueda blushed and covered his face with his hands but Ryo just grinned and Yamapi and Jin just gave him the thumbs up.
They may have their acts of fights, but nothing beats more than the times they really show their love to each other. What I saw on the TV was real proof that they love each other because I’ve always known that Daddy would never do something like that in public. I’ve always thought that I would be the only one to see and to witness how they really love each other but I think that scene was proof enough…for now.
I’ve always wondered if they really loved each other before though, because I always thought that I saw more of the fights rather than them being close and showing love. But now when I think about it, those fights are also signs of them loving each other! Don’t you think?
